Pioneering 4x4 Opportunity - Taaibos4x4 6 - 8 September

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

What?: 4x4 weekend at the newly launched Taaibos 4x4 venue

When?: 6, 7 & 8 September 2019

Where?: About 11km outside of Vaalwater

This Sounds Familiar?: Yes, it's next to Platbank on the same river (Taaibos River)

How Much?: Camping - site for two nights with Power including the trail fee - R1 000
Chalets - with private en suite bathroom - R1900 for two nights including the trail fee.
If you chalet for one night it's R1050 including trail fee (one vehicle)
The chalets are quite jacked.

NOTE: You can bring your platkar & Kakavaan right to the campsight.
The Campsite is 800m from the tar road.

There is a lekker Boma etc...

This place sounds stunning guys!!!

Why?: Because, you will be the 1st formal 4x4 group to do this exciting new trail!!! Pioneers Papi!

More Why?: Because the fuel price has dropped, interest rates are down, winter will be over & it's time to live...

What Now?: You pay into the club account using your Club name & "Taai4x4" or "Taai".

By When?: We can take bookings up till 15 August or until we reach 12 vehicles.
Whichever occurs first...

What Else?: There is a Foofy slide, a Zip line, dam swimming, braai facilities en route etc.

How Long Master?: 4 to 6 hours of 4x4'ing including stopping to braai & play, swim & jerk around.

Tell me more: Between the Chalets & the Campsites is a rope log suspension bridge, it's great fun if you've had a few.

I'm Scared?: Guys like Kurt will be OK, it's an easy 3... you don't need a Fortuner or Unimog

How Many?: We can take max 10 to 12 vehicles. There are only 4 chalets, but there's enough camping.

Who?: Any Club member or non Club member in need of a post winter weekend...

If the trail hasn't been changed drastically from what we did a few years ago, it wasn't very hectic. We did it in an almost standard Jeep Grand Cherokee without any problems. There were areas in the river that had big rock steps but there was a was around them for the less adventurous of us. I'll go through my old photos and post a few when I find them.
Unfortunately I won't be able to do this one. It's too close to our trip to Northern KZN to do as well.

Paul, it's basically the same place... the place you went to fell into disuse.
Then a few months back Will took over & has completely redone the place.

The camp on the farm side of the river was used mainly for school groups and such. The other side with the big kitchen and rondavels had huge potential but was run down. Nice to see it up and running again. Looks good.

I can understand why you would think so.
This is called a 4x4 camping weekend.
You should go on one - then you'll understand.
