Bronberg 4x4

#1

Post by Martin de Jager »

Today, myself, Peter, Sue-Ann, TM, LX & Phillip, went and visited Bronberg 4x4. This is the old LA Sport ground, lying derelict for some years. The group of us went to recce and test the facility for a potential venue:
1) possible home for 4x4AG:
Pro's; 42acre, water, grass, three rock gardens, plenty descents and accents, some swamps,. braai areas, camping ablutions, many options, very central. 54km's from the East, Jhb more or less the same, very safe.
Loved it.
2) venue for RFAD 2019: Definitely can handle the crowds, plenty parking, allowing for public participation, lots of attention, huge financial benefits.

This is really a perfect option, as base and more.

Sue-Ann by far drove the best line, calm as can, probably the excellent navigation from Peter, TM and LX let the Hummer's loose, a Suzuki got stuck, and the mighty Fortuner showed the way,

Nice day. I really enjoyed the mud/skidpan/swampy area up top. Was a lot of fun.

Nearly drowned my Jimny in that little pond. I was in about halfway when the front left dipped ever so slightly, the mud sucked the Jimny in and I was stuck.
No going forwards or backwards. Luckily help was at hand with no damage except a VERY wet interior...

Very nice. Pity I missed it. Should try a weekend camping there.

Nico, the amenities are still far from complete but the place does have a future.
But, yes we enjoyed the day...

But we can’t. There is no money because we don’t have a commercial interest in 4x4ing.
Flex is overrated

After discussing the report from the guys who were there & considering the options, pitfalls, etc...
The Chairman of the 4x4 Action Group decided, after consulting with his VC & others, that...
We will not be getting involved with this venue...
