I asked the question and got the go ahead to start the original thread becasue I felt there needed to be some day outings in between the big events orginized by the committee, so a BIG THANK YOU for everyone that attended. I am glad it was called "fun day" cause I definitely had some fun.

Well done Ninja, I hear it was a success.
I saw some photos, bu Iron, on the 4x4AG FB Group page.
Looks like it was a good day.
Hopefully some pics and info find their way here.
I'd like Charles comments especially.

I will add the 10 attendees to the Event Attendance List.

If you are gathering events for your UTM 50 Trails Challenge you can add this event - if it was your first time to Moegatle.

Chairman's report of Moegatle 4x4 fun day:

We met up at 8:30 at reception where we deflated and had some coffee. As per usual we welcomed the new club members as well as a "tag-a-long" which Pierre met while camping at Moegatle, we went through the 10 commandments of the club which we abide by. The Owner, Alex, took the lead to ensure we are exposed to all that Moegatle could offer.

We were tested all the way, luckily the extreme obstacles had a bypass route however some obstacles one had to master to carry on with the trail. Moegatle is what it is, a tough trail and we all belly bumped and many front/back bumpers scratched the dirt but no significant damage. Unfortunately Charles lost two tyres on the right side of his vehicle simultaneously, he deflated to the required pressures but due to low tyre profiles there was not enough "cushion" and a rock claimed two tyres. We fitted his spare wheel (which had a good profile 256/65/70) as well as one of my Prado's spares (fitted perfectly) and we continued on the trail. Charles was in good spirit even with the loss of 2 tyres and side step scratches, he completed the trail and did well for his 2nd 4x4 trail.

We finished the trail at 14:30 after which we drove to the ROCK (a.k.a Koos se Klip) where the people with BIG goons could "haal uit en wys". Renier (Hummer), Pierre (Rubicon SWB) and J. Roets (Isuzu) drove up successfully with their first attempt, Maarten (Hilux) was successful on his second attempt but all 4 did it extremely well, up and down. Videos, Photos and stories of this rock do not capture the full extent of this rock, it is only when you climb it that you realize how intimidating it is.

Thanks to:
- Ninja for arranging the trip, we need more members to arrange trips for the 4x4AG and not rely on the committee's trips only.
- Bugger for always being the first to help, with his guidance and his equipment.
- Everyone else who did the trail: We all guided people over/through obstacles, we all shared advice and everyone had a good time.

Feedback for future trips:
If you have a stock standard vehicle and you attempt a rough trail, make peace with it that your vehicle will get bumped on the belly or that you will suffer some damage, especially tyres. Charles is a perfect example, in a positive way, he knew he was taking on a rough trail and he made peace with it that he will suffer some damage even with people guiding him to the best of their abilities. This also gives experience and guidance on potential vehicle upgrades, although it is expensive in-service training (and many said a R100 boerewors roll is expensive ....)

Nice report Wessel. Looks like you guys held the 4x4 Action Group name high.
Congrats to the 4 who did Koos se Klim - it's a daunting obstacle.

Well done to Charles - his first two outings were not the easiest - a Baptism of Fire...

BTW, Charles was warned:

Charles, Moegatle is a Terror Trail.
Try fit Rock Sliders before the event.
He should consider getting a set of 18" AT or Mud tyres with thicker sidewalls for when he goes to play.

Ian, that camaraderie is what we've spent the last 8 years trying to cultivate.

I've been out with other groups and it's very much a case of 'every man for himself' and of course, trying to prove you are better than the others.

So I'm very please to read your report.

Thank you...

Unbeknownst to the guys who were there, the guys who attended are not exactly as per the list on post #2.
My sleuth work has revealed that Kyle (SamuraiX) was, in fact, not there.
If anyone knows who the ten who actually attended were, I'd love to know.
