Herewith the first tickler:

Plan your route via Machadadorp Badplaas Barberton. Route timing is around 4 hours.

A very good spot for a lunch is Millys about 2.5 hours from JHB.

More to follow

Gerdus has left for the green meadows on the far side of the pretty mountains of the Cape peninsula.
So I request he be replaced by Bradley Diedericks
He and my daughter will be in my Jimny.
And it has an ORRA licensed radio.

We are meeting here:

Diggers Inn Retreat.
072 210 8570
https://maps.app.goo.gl/orAGV2TQkaEPwZq18

We leave at 16h00 sharp!
Try to be there an hour earlier.
Someone pitching at 16h01 will be left behind.
Plan for 4 hours travel time.
The recommended route I posted earlier the road between Machadorp and the R38 to Barberton is closed due to subsidence. A detour is past the Nkomati Nickel Mine which is a very scenic route but adds about 30 mins to the route.
Alternate routes available on the N17

Tour guide Roelf advises:

"Diggers is in "self preservation lockdown mode". It basically means it only operates on what is arranged in advance. Mark doesn't have his staff on duty all the time, only on arrangement.
I'll obviously have the bar open that afternoon, but if the lads are going to want to order food, they'd better notify me well in advance".

It is in a forest reserve, and we will camp on top of a mountain.

All should be safe but take valuables with you for the day outings

Gumtree wood can be collected on the mountain for fires. Decent wood need to be taken up.

Night time temperatures are "a Nelspruit cool night"
Work on 10 degrees.

Good afternoon all.

5 more sleeps!

Please check the WhatsApp group for messages.

Some of us will be taking lunch at Jocks Boskombuis on the Nelspruit road. So far 8 of us and the tour guide.

Lets try be there no later than 13h00. That gives 2 hours for lunch then we head back into town.

The rest of the gang we need to leave from the meeting point Diggers Pub in Baberton at 16h00. Thus try to be there at 15h30 for all the meets and greets and sound check etc.

We will sign Covid fomalities at the entrance to the reserve, before we head up the mountain. Estimated travel time 1 hour, then we set up camp.

After that I know no more. We are in the tour guide's hands!

Looking forward to seeing and meeting up again.

Cheers
