Will now be able to go through on Friday so I'll sort out the shortfall with Blouberg when I get there.

Could be a little chilly this weekend. Lots of fire wood required.

As per Andreas earlier on this thread
"Please be advised that the gate to the reserve closes at 16h30. Let me know should you be arriving late and I will arrange for extended hours."

Thanks all for a lekker weekend, pity we had to leave early!

The road back was busier than I expected, we decided to stop at the Ultra City just JHb side of Polokwane and queued 3 cars deep at the pumps to fill up, I would hate to have seen it yesterday

I assume everyone is back home safe :?:

OK, my report...

After a long crap drive there, we finally arrived 2 hours later than I wanted to.
We had to call a guy arranged by Andreas to arrange access, difficult with the spotted signal, but the guy was there waiting. Impressed.
Andreas had earmarked us a great spot. We parked & set up as the last light was fading & the cold was setting in.
Tammy, Tristan and I were like a well - oiled machine. Set up was flawless.

Chas who left before Nico & I arrived after Nico and I as he had no navigation devise & didn't read the Thread.
But he arrived & set up... late.

We braai'ed, Ge'off & Avon were a little way away & did their own thing, as did BillyH.

Next morning we had a slow relaxing start to the day & then headed off on a drive.
First stop was the Vulture restaurant - not much going on there. But interesting nonetheless.
Then to a massive Baobab - 22Lm circumference (I measured it with a tape measure).
As Tammy Craig & Avon had gone cycling, our group consisted of only White Toyota's & Chas' White Defender.
Next stop was a lunch stop on the '4x4' route.

Avon, Monica & Tammy Craig joined us later, so we had a green Rubi to break the Whiteness.

Chas has an interesting convoy strategy:
Step 1: Lose sight of the vehicle in front of you.
Step 2: Ignore the radio tips telling you which way to turn.
Step 3. Ignore the hand out map.
It was hilarious!
Andreas on Radio "Guys, it's Left, Left, Left then, at #12 turn right.
Later...
Andreas "Remember it's Left every time until #12 where you go right.
Later...
Chas "Which way at number 32?"
Manny "It's always left until #12 Chas!"
Later... I see Chas stop in front of me at a intersection, I pull next to him & see a #12 in front of us.
I cut in front of him & turn Right.
After 450m I look back & can't see Chas.
I call "You coming Chas?"
Chas "Are we going Right here?" :D  8-) :)

Gotta love Chas!!!!

Saturday night Billy & Chas & Nico & Spouses joined us.
Ge'Off & Avon & Spouses braai'id at there site - Ge'Off's daughter was not feeling well.

Sunday morning we chilled (I must add, Billy goes to bed very early, gets up early & heads out).
Avon came to tell us that Ge'Off & Tammy had to head home early - Daughter was not doing well.
They packed up & left.

We went to the water hole hide & then later for Sundowners up the mountain.
Water hole was great. Avon, however, had seen far more animals there earlier.
In fact, Avon was lucky with many great sightings.

I left early as the sun was setting, got down the mountain, turned right (as you should, there is a small no entry sign).
Then let Tristan drive back, a group of Giraffe standing in the road near camp ended Tristan's 2km drive & I took over & negotiated past the Giraffes.

No sooner has we got to camp then the others arrived, I was surprised they got back so quick... but I found out how later.

While doing a big group braai at our site the Ranger arrived, asked who the Jeep driver was & dragged Avon away.
Apparently these guys had missed the No Entry sign & driven down the fence.
The local farmer was braai'ing & didn't like Jeep dust (he didn't seem to have an issue with White Toyota dust - Boer mentality).
Anyway, the Ranger handled it terribly, was way too aggressive & when Adreas said it was his fault & they ALL missed the No Entry sign, he (Ranger) got more windgat...
But Andreas handled it well & having now reprimanded 60% of Junes Campers at Blouberg, The Ranger drove off - smug in his amazing ability to do Marketing - like a Boss.
