Lekker day out in the Park today, not so extreme, regardless of my side steps drama.
I think George had the most fun, and the red Range Rover. Thanks Ntate Anthony for assistance in removing both my side steps.
Wanted to climb the famous rock, and God se pad, but since I'm not camping, maybe next time.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

2019 First Quarter Extreme Trail - Moegatle's NEW River Route

Well, the weekend is over, and what an event it was.
We arrived late afternoon on Friday, and set up camp.
Sat morning early I saw that Triton1 had set up camp on the opposite side. Behind the ablutions.

People started to arrive slowly and by 08:30 all but the last two stragglers were there and ready to roll.
Tyres were deflated and we had our briefing before the convoy, with Alex Fullard at the lead, left camp.

The convoy travelled past all the usual trail obstacles and proceeded to a new area.

We regrouped on top of a rock and made sure everyone was there. Then immediately started by descending the rock down a narrow gully.

The trail meandered down a river and the helpers Alex that picked up at the gate, were soon working hard cutting open the trail as the obstacles soon came one after the other.

A number of tough rocky climbs followed, where you had to make sure the line was taken correctly. You could also see a lot of water had come down the riverbed very recently, and by the height of driftwood in the trees, it must have been quite a sight.

The flood also changed a number of obstacles, some had became a lot easier and others became more complex to get across.

There were a few places where dings and scratches were picked up if a driver was not absolutely careful.

A few recoveries were needed. The Jimny bellied out twice on rocks, the Range Rover needed a tow out of one of the last obstacles.
I am not sure how many more were recovered in the group.

We stopped on a sand bank for lunch, and Johan Swift and Pierre amused the crowd by smoking their tyres while trying to drive up a slippery granite wall.

We had to cut a new route up the bank around a deep waterhole, but a couple of the braver guys managed to drive through.

The group eventually made it back into camp after a hard day of wheeling at about 16:00.

The wounds were licked, a couple of cold ones enjoyed. Some cooled off in the pool.

Thank you all for buddy'ing up and helping each other through obstacles.

The group members were generally good with comms and waited for the back-markers when needed. Great convoy discipline.

Thank you all for making my job easier.
Please post your pics here too

To the repurposed side steps... I can only say that “you were warned :)

To the Rangy that showed her underwear... That vehicle needs a lot of TLC and repairs.
