The way people were carrying on after the trail clean up day it was made out the trail is super difficult and only suitable for vehicles with lots of under body protection and a winch.................
Which is it now???????????????????????????????

Ether way it should be fun and the grade makes no difference just take your time and enjoy the day out 4x4ing

Then I'll give it a miss as I'm not prepared to stuff up the Disco by heading onto an unknown trail.
I'll go back to the caravan and enjoy an adult beverage or six.

When people start asking about trail difficulty, you know they are not up to it.

The Trail, as it was on Saturday, is an easy 3 if you have a SWB Rubi with 35's
It's was a 4 for Fearless on Saturday.
It's an easy 3 in any 4x4 if it has been hot & dry for 3 weeks.
It's a 4 to the average guy if it's rained in the week before.
It's a 4 if its dry, but you have a vehicle as long as the new Hilux Revo), or longer.
It's a 5 if you have HT tyres.

It is NEVER a 2...

That's the beauty of In The Gorge - it changes depending on the weather.

It also changes if a lot of vehicles have struggled through there just before you.

No part of the trail is as easy as any part of De Wildt...

I would suggest that people who have concerns/doubts have a look see on the day and then decide if it is a good or bad idea to join in.
it is almost impossible to make the decision beforehand if the trail is unknown to the group.

It doesn't help if a string of numbers get rattled off when I haven't an idea of what that rating means in real life.
It would be much more helpful to explain what type of terrain and the ground clearance amongst other things is required.
I'm not prepared to learn that a 4 means I should have had lots of under-body protection to prevent the broken transfer case I'm sitting with half way through a trail. If this means I miss out on learning more about the capabilities of my vehicle, that's unfortunate, but at least I'll be towing my caravan home with a serviceable vehicle.
