RECCE REPORT:

KurtG & Family, Bazza, Hedgehog and Tammy & I did a Recce today.
I've been to Lost Horizon's before - but wanted to check the exact site of the AGM presentation & check out the camping.

The Venue:
Stunning setting, three large pools overflowing into each other surrounded by lush green grass.
The lapa is raised and overlooks all this scenerey. There is very little shade.
The meeting will be held at the upstairs thatch lapa next to the lowest pool.

Please BRING SHADE (Gazebo's etc).

If you want to do the trail DO NOT PARK UP NEAR THE POOL leave your vehicles at the bottom - otherwise you will get parked in.
If you are NOT doing the trail - try park as close to the Lapa as possible - less distance to carry stuff.

BRING CHAIRS.

The Trail:
It's tough. It is very overgrown. It's tight. A Land Rover 130 WILL NOT MAKE it.
This Trail is for Jimny's & SWB Rubicon's.
The club has paid for all of you to do the trail (usually R250).
Bring branch cutter.
Bring all your recovery gear.
You do the trail AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I have done it twice.

Camping:
We went to Weaver's Roost. It is 2.5km back towards Maropeng.
It is a stunning, well run, clean venue.
Please read the next post about the camping bookings.

Camping - at Weaver's Roost:

Very nice venue.

If you intend camping then:

I need you to confirm, BY WEDNESDAY, that you are 100% committed to camp.

Cost:
R200 per night PLUS R50pp/n.
So a family of 4 is R400 a night.
Kid's under 5 are free.

Kurt is camping Friday & Saturday (as are many of us).
So he will pay R800 for camping.

Payment:
I need you to reply & pay for the camping by Wednesday.
This is so I can secure the stands on Thursday.
This place gets full, but it is not crowded.

You MUST use your name +Weavers Roost or just Weavers as the reference.

We, your great & glorious committee, realise that January is a loooooooong month.
So I don't mind if you only pay by month end.
But if you confirm you are camping & the Club pays on your behalf, you WILL pay the club.
No cancellations as I'll have paid Weavers Roost....

Do I still have to pay the R100.00 deposit for the AGM?

Yes, it’s a very safe venue. I don’t have any concerns from what I saw.

Guys, Weaver's Lodge has Chalets - from about R800/night - for guys like Bazza who "can't find" their camping gear....

If you are not staying over, you may not drink... no one drives home after having more than two drinks....

My Plan:

Here's my plan for the AGM - just to give you some insight.

Friday:
Leave home by 15:00, drive 45mins to Weavers Roost.
Set up camp.
Braai.
Sleep.

Saturday:
Get up.
Go to Lost Horizons around 08:45.
Inspect Lapa.
09:30 - give my rousing speech.
10:00 - AGM over either chill by the pool or go do the 4x4 trail.
Get back, chill by the pool, have a few drinks, lunch time braai/light meal.

16:00 ish - head back to weavers roost.
Braai.
Drink more.
Sleep.

Sunday:
Get up.
Pack up.
Maybe have breakfast at Bru House.
Head home.
Unpack.
