Surely there are places where you can refill water during the trip.

Yes Paul, depends on your route but from memory should normally get water at
PoffAdder, Klein Pella, De Hoop, KokerboomKloof, Vioolsdrif, Sendelingsdrif
and the Orange is often not far away.
... not sure of potability but can boil/treat etc

Kakamas, PoffAdder, Alex Bay
some SA-Agric Co-ops (before R-Veld)
Sendelingsdrif, Vioolsdrif
... Famous Fiver VoorLoper ...
... Veni Vidi Vici ...

So if I got 6x5L drinking water
And Est 60l Gry

Drink more Beer (to save water)
Quick low pressure showers to save Gry water.

We should be able to find a source of Gry water somewhere
With in a stretch of 3-4 days
