Quarterly Extreme 4x4 Trail: II - Rust De Winter

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

Our 2nd Quarterly Extreme Trail, for the 4th Quarter of 2018, is the famous Rust De Winter...

What?: 2nd Extreme 4x4 Weekend

When?: 13 & 14 October 2018

Time?: You must be at the venue before 09:00 on the Saturday. Keep reading, all will be revealed.

Where?: Rust De Winter

Cost?: R750.00 per vehicle

Organiser & Guide?: Jaco Jeep

Details?: Rust De Winter is a 'Must Do' Weekend.
You, ideally. rrive on the Friday late afternoon, set up game & have a light kuier session.
Saturday you get up early, get ready & line your 4x4's up.
The guides from RdW come introduce themselves then take you on the trail.
There are two signature obstacles; Man or Mouse & Superman.
Even the great Mad Manny did not attempt Superman.

In the late afternoon you get to the top of the mountain.
Space is limited. You park, set up camp & braai.
When I went we showered & were given strafdoppe - for some reason my straf Ginger Bread biscuit was soaked in the whiskey much longer???
The next morning you pack up & head down the mountain.
You get back to base around 14:00 & then they hand out well-deserved certificates.

Group Size?: Minimum 10, Maxim,um 15 vehicles.

Vehicle Requirements?: You need a slightly modded & lifted vehicle & you need to know your stuff.
Rocksliders, underbody protection & proper tyres are essential.
A standard 4x4 will not make it.

What to Pack?: Camping stuff, 5 l of water for Saturday & Sunday.
Food, clamping grid, recovery gear, a few beers for Saturday night, warm clothing - it is always chilly on top of the mountain.
Sunday breakfis. Compressor etc...

Payments?: You pay into the Club Account.
You MUST use the reference RDW after your Forum Name

EG: KurtG RDW or Flipside RDW

Pay By?: You must pay by 5 September 2018

There is a challenging obstical, called superman. There you need to have a capable vehicle with lockers, there is a lovers lane that the guys can drive who don't want to do Superman. The rest of the route you dont need lockers. I'm going to do Superman.
