I'm busy rewiring the caravan before I do the power feed wiring on the Disco. When that's done I'll see about what to pack where in the van to get the correct weight and ballance for towing. Really looking forward to the few days away with the inmates of this nutfarm.

We are planning to leave Edenvale mid morning. It will be my first long distance tow with the Disco and caravan so I'm going to take it easy to get the feel of the combination. I was thinking of staying on the N3 till Warden to miss the road works on the Reitz - Frankfort section of R26. We had some detours and slow going on the way back from the Mountain passes trip after our stop over in Clarens.

The road from Frankfort to Reitz is clear of roadworks but there are some minor potholes. I am taking this route, unless Waze tells me otherwise on the day.

Still Roadworks between BHM and Reitz 10-30min delay, i drive via Warden, the road is in better condition and is wider than R26.

Oh thanks, the one stop-go was about 400m long so it wasn’t a delay about 3 weeks ago. The situation must have change since then.

I will also go via Warden now based on your feedback Image

Ok guys this morning i drove to JHB via Warden. Drove back via Frankfort, Reitz. There is no more roadworks. But no lines and tar job was done kak. Between Reitz and Bethlehem. The road is very badly patched between Frankfort and Reitz. I will not recomend driving this route especially when towing and definatly not at night. Via Warden os 40km further but there is no time diffrance as the road via Frankfort is a 100km/h zone and some 80km/h sections. Via Warden is 120km/h and 100 to Bethlehem but road is MUCH better unfortunately there is a extra R65 toll gate.

Use it, don't use it....

Thanks Panda. I'll gladly do the few extra km through Warden. I'd rather not be dodging potholes and such while towing.
