I hear it’s going well there, big fire etc. I’m just amazed that Paul#25 was able to find the venue.

Well done Paul

Nice evening.
The 4x4AG guys were the only quiet well behaved people here.

Big crowd having a masked ball made a racket until early.

Another group near Emile played music and partied until around 03:00.

Some black religious praise criers were up early wailing for redemption.

I don't think it's been quiet here since we arrived. .

Spit is set up.
Guys are 4x4'ing, others are chillin'.

Very lekker so far.

Gualter made a big mess last night - so now he’s on the strafdop list. .

Great YEF we had. Thanks to all the people that arranged the function and the great food. The COOK had a busy day. Some of us went playing and the "TINY" Jimmy tried to take off a couple of times. Then there was the speeches and of course the STRAFF DOP. We all got nailed. Obviously the "LADIES" were out of control while the Men behaved like real gentlemen. Sorry for the guys that could not make it. Great bunch of members and hope it's going to be a busy year with plenty trips. Thanks once again Manny, Chris, Emile and the support of the ladies.

Thanks to everyone involved in planning and organising of the weekend. It was a fantastic weekend and a wonderful feast with the spit on Saturday evening. Lots of people contributed in different ways so it will unfair to mention some and not other. Great to see some of the regulars again and also putting faces to forum and WhatsApp names. 4X4 Action Group rocks.

Chairman's Report on the Year End Function at Olifant's River Lodge

A very pleasant weekend, great venue, great setting, mostly perfect weather & a nice-easy going atmosphere.

Paul arrived on Thursday, most arrived on Frifay, with Peter Rabbiddog arriving in the dark as usual - Sue Anne is a expert at setting up camp in the dark.

Some guys like Bazza, Erin Imvubu & Chris Crips arrived on Saturday due to other commitments.

Friday night was a bit noisy, there was a masked ball Christmas function, some guys partying hard & then some damn early morning praise singers seeking redemption.
Saturday there was the noise related to building a new lodge across the river.
But by Saturday afternoon all was quiet - then we started!

On Friday night some guys braai'd with neighbours, some did a potjie, a group of us braai'd near Andreas - you did want you liked.

On Saturday some slept in (I know I tried), some got up early to run (something wrong with Tammy & Ge'off) some went to 4x4 some chilled, some went to the pool - you did whatever the hell you wanted to.

Then from 17:00 we had the YEF formalities - which I'll cover in my next post.

Sunday most of us (except Chris) packed up & left - guys like Flip left early, others went for the buffet breakfast.
Ge'off & Tammy clearly pack up slower than they run.

It was a GREAT weekend, a GREAT YEF & we definitely have a GREAT Club with a GREAT bunch of people...

The Formal Part of the YEF:

We were called to order by the strains of our piper.

We herded the recalcitrant bunch with no hearing into a bundle for the Group Photo - note to self: take a whip next time!

We then gave each member present a Goodie Bag - it contained a proper rated shackle, a few nice gifts sponsored by Erin Imvubu of IMS Brokers like a Cross Country Lanyard & it also had a few other items.

The Thank You's were dispensed with:
* I thanked all those who attended as well as all members of the club for helping build a truly awesome club.
* A Thank You to Jonathan Bosch our Piper who played the reveille opening the formalities.
42 adults attended of which 21 were members, plus 6 kids.
* I thanked my committee who a really a great bunch.
* I thanked Ge'off Wave & Tammy for designing & printing the UTM certificates in record time.
* And then of course the biggest THANK YOU to Emile Venter for arranging the the Year End Function - you have no idea how much effort goes into an event like this behind the scenes.[/list]

Chris handed out Participation Certificates - These are certificates for members who attended events in the past year.

I handed out the UTM Certificates to UTM Conquistadors who were present.
Those who were not there will get theirs in due course.

I then gave a brief Speech on how the club is doing: Growing stronger by the day.
I also provided some statistics - these will be mailed to all members in the next week.

Then we issued the Strafdoppe & Straf Prizes some examples:
* Gualter got for leaving a mess of beer cans at Andres' camp site the night before.
* Everyone not wearing a Club shirt was given a strafdop.
* 4Gee got for breaking down on the way to the YEF.
* Ryno got for trying to book direct wioth venue & not through the club.
* Bazza got one for repeatedly dropping his wors in the sand on River Trip.
* Ryno got a dop & a bottkle of cooking oil for cooking his gearbox on the 10 passes tour.
* Georg Triton1 got a dop & a notebook because he is notoriously bad at packing for camping trips - even going back home once to fetch stuff he'd forgotten.

Then we feasted on the awesome spread. I must say a BIG Thank You to Peter Rabbiddog & Francoise Panda for the Lamb Braai Spit - they spent the whole day drinking & watching the Spit,
I must also thank all the people who set up the spread, those who made side dishes (Peter even did the very tasty potato bake & Dianne did a stunning Malva pudding) but many others also did salads & sides.
I dunno who was behind the sweet potato - but it was damn nice.
So to Peter, Francoise & everyone involved in the feast - we thank you. Well Done!

Thank you everyone, we had a really good time, and like many weekend camps, it was way too short.
To the club, the organizers and our top chefs - a huge thank you!

PS: We take our time to pack up camp, as where are you going? home? might as well enjoy the surroundings a little but longer... it also got very nice a quiet once all you lot had left :D

Thanks all for a great weekend
Lovely time except for the dustbins that were far and few in between (hence the strapdop)
Sorry for the rubish Andreias, but Manuel did offer to pick it up🖒🖒

Thanks guys we had a great weekend.

It was the first time I have been to a 4x4ag weekend away where I didn't 4x4, and that was my choice, so I think we are doing things right.

Thanks to the organizers, our chef, and all the ladies who prepared the salads, potato bake and pudding, every one enjoyed it, I saw many people coming back to get more.

@Erin
If I knew your children were vegetarian, we would have done sweet potato's and stir fry veg, especially for them, and kept it to one side.
