2024 4x4 AG YEF at Holnek Game & Nature Reserve

Introduction: We did not have a YEF in 2023. Also, there have not been many events in 2024 - this is because I was hoping Club Members would show some initiative & arrange something.
In fact I even approached a few Club members to arrange an event, but none were capable.

Rechard Timm then approached me & said he'd arrange the YEF - an offer I gladly accepted.
Rechard took care of all arrangements within a few days.
Rechard is off to Mapungubwe & Tuli, so he asked me to run the Thread.

WHERE: Holnek Game & Nature Reserve

WHEN: Weekend of 15, 16 & 17 November 2024

WHO:
Category One : All paid up members of the 4x4 Action Group and their families.
Category Two: Forum members who are prepared to abide by the Club's Code Of Conduct & Rules

COSTS: Camping
Category One (Club Members): R600 per 'stand' for the weekend
Category Two: Non Club Members) R700 per 'stand' for the weekend

Note: We are staying at the Wildebos 4x4 Camp Site.
The Holnek Website says there is no power, but Rechard confirmed there is access to power.
I suggest you don't rely on a power point close to where you'll be camping.
Camping is two people per site. Two.

FACILITIES @ the WILDEBOS CAMPSITE
There is a Boma & Braais & a Communal kitchen at the camp site.
There is a gas stove & electricity & a communal Hall.

Sorry folks, I just noticed this small error in the OP.

We are not camping as indicated above at the Wildebos 4x4 camp site...
we are camping at the Mgqoma Camp Site

Please make sure you know where we are camping.

FACILITIES @ the MGQOMA CAMP SITE.
Very clean ablutions. 2 x showers and toilets for men and 2 x showers and toilets for ladies. Hot water via donkie

There is a gas stove x 3 & electricity & a communal Hall.
We camp on nice grass.

NB: FIRE Wood will be available. Please bring BRAAI wood!

COSTS: Chalet
For those of you not geared for Wild Camping - there are Chalets @ R300 per PERSON sharing per night.
Note that the Chalets are served by Communal Bathrooms & a Communal kitchen.
Cost for the Chalets are the same for Club members & non-members - but remember, costs are PER PERSON sharing.

4x4 TRAIL:
There is a 4x4 Trail. You will not have to pay for the Trail.
It takes 4 to 6 hours to complete & is reasonably challenging.

Attendance Notes:
1. You need to book for both nights & pay the amounts above - even if only coming for 1 night.
4. We will only take a maximum of 25 bookings.
5. Do NOT deal with the venue direct.
6. First 25 to book get the spots.
7. Payment Cut-off is when we reach 25 bookings or 31 October - whichever comes first.

PROGRAM:

There is no formal program.
There is a 4x4 Trail, which those who want to, can do on Saturday morning (see below).
There is a lovely Kuier Area.
There is a nice round pool to cool off.
Saturday evening we will all get together at 17h00 outside the Lapa for the annual club photograph.
Please try to be on time and please wear your club shirts.

Directly after the club photograph there will be a few formalities.
The usual program will be followed such as UTM Certificates, Club Awards, year end speech and a few strafdoppe.
We'll keep the speeches as short as possible.

After the speeches we will braai together, strafdoppe to continue..... Fires will be ready after the formalities outside the hall.
Sunday we pack up and go home.
