I've not got around to downloading the photos from the big camera yet, but I'll post those when I get a chance to. In the meantime, please find a few cell photos Liana took.

This post is specially for HenrinSteyn...

Andrea's had an afdak style awning off the back of his Paptril.
This provided cover when he was using the new drawer system as well as for his stretcher bed tent thingy.

Anyhoo, Sunday morning early I get up and see that during the night, due to the wind and rain, his awning had collapsed.

That will be a Strafdop at the 2023 YEF...

Other Strafdoppe for 2023:
Black LX - arriving late for the formalities
White Alex - ditto
PieterVil - ditto
Flipside - leaving at 22:00 Saturday night.

Note, Flip left because his Daughter in Law had a traumatic incident - a sheet of glass fell out a building onto her Jimny. Flip left to provide support.

So why the Strafdop?

The Daughter in Law is in Cape Town...

A funny anecdote from the YEF.
Black LX's wife saying to me, in perfect Afrikaans "Ons kan Afrikaans praat, is ons deel van die 44?"...

Only one pole pulled loose. The mere fact that my alarm clock was needed to wake me shows that despite what Manny assumed was a calamitous disaster was only discovered after a very peaceful nights sleep. Furthermore, I woke at 6h30 and was packed up ready to leave at 6h45. That’s efficient camping. One day Manny will learn. Slowly, but he will learn.

A little damage sustained on my way home on the R21. This road is a disaster as the surface seems to be breaking up. On the way to the YEF I heard one smack on the windscreen but could not see a chip. On the way back I heard two. The first I could see no damage. The second I saw a new star chip had formed. Then a while later, without a car anywhere near me I heard a very loud bang. I can only assume it was something thrown up from the opposite lane. Fortunately it hit low down on the right hand corner otherwise I reckon the windscreen would have smashed completely.

Another strafdop for 2023.

Manny.

He attempted to make afire to braai on on Friday night and Saturday lunch time. Both attempts extremely pitiful attempts. I’m not sure if he has begun a one man crusade to save the world from deforestation or just doesn’t have a clue but he would have had more heat from a single match.

His steak on Friday night came off the grill looking decidedly grey but I’m not sure it was any warmer than when he put it on an hour earlier. His Boerewors on Saturday was just smoked, definitely not cooked.

If anyone knows of a course to learn the skill of making an adequate fire to braai meat please let Manny know. I’ll pay for it. I just can’t watch his pathetic attempts again.

You should know by now that Porras know how to fry stuff in old chip oil. Making fire was never explained to them

Referring to Andreas's post about the windscreen I also had something chip my windscreen on the R21. No car in front of me and a barely audible noise but nonetheless the windscreen was chipped. On the other forum recently there was a discussion about this and the guys who use the R21 frequently complained about recurrent windscreen damage

I was just saying, probably 80% ofthe windscreen claims we deal with, happen on the R21.
