Nice pics Kurt . Those tyres lost , same make of tyre ? Or different makes ? Any specific reason ?

Sharp rocks and heavy vehicles was the cause. Some sections were very technical.
River Trip 2018

We had a stunning weekend on River Trip.
Kurt's route planning & scheduling were spot on.
The group was just an awesome crowd:
Grips & his son Ignus, Andreas, Kurt, Ge' off (Wave) & Bazza, Emile, MartinDJ, Paul#25 & his sister Linda, Rabbiddog (TireNaaier) & Sue Anne, the Great Flipside & obviously, me, myself & I...
Kurt & I stayed with SwartJan in Mokopane on Wednesday evening.
We left Mokopane early on Thursday & met up with Wave (Ge' Off) & Bazza before Polokwane.
We then met Rabbiddog & Paul (who got lost but still made it on time) @ Tokio Fuel Stop.
We then dropped into the Molototsi river & met the rest of the group in the river.
Andreas & Emile had camped the night with Anthony Forgey (4G), Jaco Jeep & Colin Striker68 who were doing their own trip.
The 3 of them had left prior to us meeting up...
The ten of us headed off but soon met the 4G, Jaco Jeep, Striker trio who had twisted the XJ's rear prop like an over turned koeksuster.
We greeted them & then left them to their repairs as we pressed on.
Weather was miserable with very light rain.
45km later we arrived at Kurt's chosen overnight spot & set up camp.
On day two (Friday) Wave had a cut tyres & later Rabbiddog cut a Hankoek like a koek.
When Rabbiddog cut another Koek we renamed him Tire Naaier.
Flip, Bazza & Sue Anne stayed with the Disco while Wave & Rabbiddog went on Tyre Quest 2000.
weather was a lot nicer.
The rest pressed on to the overnight spot, we set up camp, the tyre group arrived shortly after dark.
Day three (Saturday) involved a short section of river before we left the Molototsi, inflated & drove 20km on tar to the Letaba.
We dropped in & headed 8km downstream to the Kruger fence for a photo opportunity.
We then drove back 8km to our starting point & continued upstream.
Paul then had tyre trouble (seems to be a Disco drivers gift to buy thin sidewalls & find sharp rocks).
We got to Camp Site 3 around 15:15 - it was a great spot.
We made a big fire but Flip insisted on a huuuuge fire & went in search of a massive fallen tree, I had to dispatch more hands as the Jimny could not pull the tree it was so big.
Saturday night was even more festive that the previous two nights!
Conclusion:
Radios worked well & half the team had - so comms were a cinch.
Kurt did an outstanding job as guide.
Paul doesn't know what a Monolithic rock is.
We lost 4tyres.
I guided Andreas too close to a rock & scratched his bumper.
Flip proved why he is an Ultimate Bush Master.
It was great to have Grips from Kathu make the1000km to join us - we were honoured.
I am very, very proud of the awesome team that is the 4x4Action Group.
BTW: We never saw the 4G, Jaco Jeep/Colin Striker group again, although they were close to us on day one.
We also did not see thePatrol Guys who did the river in the opposite direction to us.
We did see the G-Wagon Convoy & a few irresponsible groups.
The 4x4 Action Group won't be doing a River Trip in 2019 & we may not do one again, but it has been fun while it lasted...

What a fabulous weekend. It is at times like this that I wish there were another word for thanks.The word thanks sometimes sound so empty without emotion. But hell thanks to everyone from me and Ignus. Were a great privilege to wheelie with you guys. Thanks again for those who helped the Cruiser through the difficult stuff. Cruiser 79 is certainly not the vehicle for a trip like this. Biggest damage on the Cruiser the fuel bill

Thank you everyone, it was a great trip, even with the troubles and challenges experienced, the overall trip was awesome.
There is nothing better than getting the everyday life issues pushed to the back of your mind because you are busy traversing a big rock (or a field of smaller slippery wet ones) and your next move (or lack of a move) might leave you stranded.
You can pick up your life issues on Monday again
It was a good cleansing of the mind and spirit and proper reset of everything else. We even saw much more of the Milky Way and the rest of the stars than what is normally visible in the brightness of Gauteng.
Making great new friendships and cementing previous ones is what this about.

I would also like to express my appreciation to all involved in the planning of the trip. Us participants just pitch up and stand around waiting for directions while the organizers have spent lots of time plotting the route, entry points, distances to be travelled daily and researching nice overnight stops. These things don’t just take five minutes.
The trip was great. A little of everything thrown in. Sand, a few rocks, bush tracks but nothing too hectic. Thanks to all for the guidance.
The best was of course the camaraderie around the campsite. Swopping stories and getting to know everyone a little better.

The trip was challenging but awesome. The Disco is defiantly still more capable than it's driver and got us through areas I didn't think possible. This wouldn't have happened without the expert guidance from so many different people as we went. It was always reassuring to know that you had backup from the others in the group if something went pear shaped. The LEARNING continues. Thanks also to Flip and the others that helped sort out my cut tyre problem.
On a personal side, it was special to spend the few days in the bush with my sister before she immigrates to Mud Island. With us growing up spending lots of time in the bush, this trip was special as it was her last "bush trip" in Africa.
Thanks for all organising and planning that was put in before we even arrived at the river.
Can't wait for the next instalment. Out of all the club events this year there will only be two that I won't have attended. The 3 Provinces event was before I bought the Disco and the Atlantis meet was for the Capies but gate-crashed by Manny. The next two gatherings will be done with the caravan we have bought in tow so I don't have sleep on the ground again.
Thanks again to everyone that was on the trip for making it another memorable event.
