EVENT: 4X4 AG River Trip 2018
What?:
A River Trip - if you haven't done one - you have been missing out!
Anyone who has been on one of these river trips will tell you that it’s an absolute must.
Adventure, camaraderie, friendships, and plenty of 4x4 driving.
Basically you drive up (or down) the (largely dry) river beds of the Klein Letaba & Molototsi rivers.

You don’t have to have an extreme 4X4 vehicle for this trip, it’s not that kind of trip.
However, decent tyres, a bit of a lift, underboady protection & rocksliders are required.

Where?:
Klein Letaba and Molototsi rivers near Giyani, Limpopo.

When?:
Thursday 9 August to Sunday 12 August
Thursday 9th is a Public Holiday (National Women’s Day).
You need to take leave for Friday 10 August.

Entry Fee?:
R444.00 per vehicle (includes river trip 2018 vehicle sticker) - You must be a paid up 4X4 Action Group member to attend.

Costs?:
Fuel for around 1000Km of tar driving and about 130Km of thick sand driving.
Tollgate fees if you are traveling on the N1.
All of your food and drink for the entire trip.
You need to be totally self-sufficient.

Here's the plan:

Thursday 9 August
Meet at Tokyo Filling Station (-23.451837, 30.359236) @ 09:15 (latest). This is the last refuel before the river.

We must depart by 09:45 (latest) for the River.

We drop into the Molotosi soon after this stop....

We must aim to be in the river by 10:15 to ensure we have a good day in the river

We'll drive for 5 or 6 hours before stopping for the night.

The idea for each day is to get moving by 08h00 sharp, so plan your breakfast routine accordingly.

We like to stop at camp by around 16h00, this gives us time to setup camp, gather the wood, begin with food prep, kuier and shower etc. I would suggest you cater for lunch whilst making dinner, it makes the lunch stop just that much easier.

We want to maximize the driving enjoyment so if we can stick to the above it will be a great trip.

Also, plan for about 150km of sand driving in total, plus another 100km odd of tar. In Sand you can comfortably double your consumption, so around 22-30L/100km depending on the vehicle.
