Kurtie will post a packing list & tips once we have the final 16.

10l of water pp/day is spot on.
The big thing is to only bring what is needed.

Last year Shaun had a "Rather take it & not need it than need it & not have it" approach.
It was a disaster.

Ok, so I'm throwing my hat in the ring for this one.................................
I'll be getting a standard set of shock's and springs for the Disco on Saturday that should prevent me being attacked with a fork for having an un-bush-worthy vehicle on the trip.
My points as of now:
1) 2017 Year End Function: - 1
2) 2018 AGM: - 1
3) Reach for a Dream 4x4 2018: - 1
4) Mountain Passes Tour 2018: - 1
5) Intro to 4x4: - 1
Total: 5 points.

It is a pity that I will never garner enough credits to join this trip again.

Edit: Let me rephrase

It is a pity that due to the merit system of these trips, my location, and time constraints, I will never be able to garner enough credits to join a club rivertrip again.

Do the participants normally stay over somewhere close to the start point of the trip or drive from home on day 1?
I'd like to start looking at accommodation options if necessary to work into my already stretched budget, if necessary.

The plan is such that you need to leave at around 05h00 on the day if you’re in Joburg. Unless you drive a Defender, then you need to leave at 02h00 .

You can book in Tzaneen if you need a place the night before, that’s probably the best bet. Perhaps others have more info to share.

Travel time on the N1 for me is about 4hr 30min without delays on the way.
The N1 on any long weekend can be crazy but the other routes add about an hour and 100km to the drive.
