Gentlemens and ladies!!!

We would like a total of 16 vehicles for this trip.

It is not a car breaker, we got a stock standard Ranger with tin foil side steps through last year, it was a pain, but we made it.

There are also plenty of “alternative” routes for the guys who want to play, basically a river bed with sand, rocks, bigger rocks, and massive rocks, depending which line you take so if you aren’t keen to damage your vehicle, take the easy route, or take the difficult route for some extra fun.

So get your application in, and let’s ensure this to be an awesome event. Even if you have two credits you still stand a chance!!!

River Trip aspects ...

Im not going on the River Trip
( even though have 5.5 credits ...
... I’ll be at 3 Prov and The Richtersveld)
... but I’ve done R-trip about 3 times
so thought to jot down few key points...
Need carry at least 5L/head water per day
ladies nearer 10l ... and need shower set-up
of sorts ... and privacy ? ...
Helps to have good throne which can be made
from deck-chair frame and loo-seat cut from
marine ply ( some will need 8-ply 😳 ) + paper
Fuel ... need 2*+ ie if normally need 10L/100km
will need 20L+ for sand L-range etc
Need base plate for Jack ... say 1sq foot wood
If you going to tow wood need chain to wrap log
and attach that to tow rope ...
Need cold beer for X days but also softs ...
For car ... esp take spare air-filter for car...
Good to have 2-way radio ...
etc other normal camp stuff (not too much)

... if I’m wrong about these things...
... tell me after ...

Other aspects ?
Enjoy
... Famous Fiver VoorLoper ...
... Veni Vidi Vici ...

Thanks Chas, all of the above is spot on. The route we are planning means you only need about 170km of range, which equates to about 340km real range due to the sand.

Water is probably the most important commodity (other than the white gold and beer).

I camped with a Frontrunner pop up tent with a ground sheet underneath and a 50mm fold up mattress, it was perfect and very lightweight. 2017 was very warm so the cold wasn’t an issue.
