2022 Club event ideas?

#1

Post by LesseW »

Morning all,

We need to have the 2022 calendar ready by October and we are 5 months away, still a long time but a lot of planning needed...

I want to get ideas from the club members so we can do research on these sites/venues before we commit to a venue for the 2022 calendar. site criteria for now:

1. Must have a 4x4 feel to it (We are not going to camp at Weesgerug or a permanent trailer park in Parrow)
2. if there is a 4x4 route close by then these sites will get preference
3. it must be safe
4. The sites/venues must be national, we are a national club and it we need to meet up with all members.
5. Family friendly sites beneficial

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO RAISE YOUR HAND TO LEAD AN EVENT.

Cheers

Sites:

1. Matamba Limpopo. Rustic bush camp with some nice gravel roads in the area to explore.

A timeless Karoo trip. Your trip would consist mostly of gravel and you would go over many of the most beautiful passes SA has to offer.

Baviaans?

Or Witsand Nature Reserve, we can then do the Waterford 4x4 trails a little to the south of that

Baviaans is a good one. Incorporate that with a stay at Die Hel

We MUST do a trip to the Northern Cape.
Kuruman, Augrabies, Kamkirrie, Riemvasmaak, Orange River etc...
Between April & September...

Like the trip that Hedgehog arranged recently?
It’s an awesome area except for Kuruman.
Everyone can camp on Grips’ lawn in Kathu on the first night.

Yes, I keep getting Kakamas & Kuruman mixed up...

So to re-post my corrected suggestion above...

Manny doesn’t even know that Google is more than just a search engine for cabbage recipes in that it has a Maps app.

Ive heard that wild bush camping at B'sorah
( 1 hr from Joburg) is very nice & easy
http://www.bsorah.com/magaliesberg-bush-camping/

also

Somabula near to Cullinan
( which has its well known near-by attractions)
We often camp there for 1 or 2 nights ...
( esp during quiet weekdays !)

also

place I know is good is Buffalo Ridge
... their Wild spring-side site esp is very nice
and there' some good off-road routes in the
hils and valleys.

Wessel ... nearby is a zoo with animals (incl. Leopard) etc
in big pens also swim pool & entertainment area which may also be nice for kids
... and a bar area for folks to recover ...
