that is a long way around, are you going on a scenic drive.
Take the N17 offramp through the toll gate passed Carnival City, passed Springs then turn right to Ermelo passing small towns and toll gates onto Pongola Fill up and chow then off to Kosi.
Chas I think you are trying to miss all the toll gate and pay extra for accommodation.

Not sure where you have booked to stay Chas but we often did the Standerton Volksrust Utrecht Louwsberg road and a short cut 20 km dirt road to join the N2 about 10km from the Jozini turn off.

Wakkerstroom only adds about 40km & about 40mins to the trip.
Not a bad route.
