Guys sorry, maybe next time, we had a Marekele trip booked, but even that might be out of the question.
I am hoping to see the specialist with in the next few days and a operation will see me out of action for the following six weeks.

@ Andreas, if we are camping at the Zilonde bush camp with only cold showers, how far would we have to walk to the abolitions where the flush toilets and hot showers are.

Next my wife is on nasal oxygen at night and with the power going off at 10pm till 8am would I be allowed to use a super quiet generator.

Thanks

Peter, please excuse my ignorance, but what is a super quiet generator? If it indeed super quiet then I’m sure it’s no issue.

If not, what about a rented oxygen cylinder from those medical oxygen places? (there used to be one around the corner from you at the Intercare Fourways)

I have a Kipor silent Gennie.
Looks like a fat red suitcase.
I think its 1200W.
It makes 10% of the noise that my Honda 5.5kVA gennie makes.
But at night, if you are within 100m - you will hear it.

I think the best would be batteries and an inverter.
The batteries can be charged by day and used at night.

Peter, I tried to contact the lodge today, but was not successful. Will do so again tomorrow to clarify your queries.

I see that border costs for a day trip to Ponta have increased substantially which may make the day trip very expensive. Over R500 for vehicle etc. and then add to that the cost and logistics of a COVID test might make that a no go.

In answer to Peter's concerns, i have ascertained the following information.

ELECTRICITY

Zilonde (the camp where we are staying) has power supplied by Eskom. Power is normally available 24hrs a day (Except for normal outages/load shedding). The campsites are spread out far apart from each other so please bring long extension cords.

ABLUTIONS

There are hot water showers, with the hot water supplied by a donkey as well as flushing toilets at the central ablution block at Zilonde (where we are staying). There is no need to go to the main lodge for hot water. Bush showers (only cold water) are also scattered around the campsites.
