A big thank you to all who attended the AGM. Seems like everyone had a nice time and enjoyed the day out. Judging by the lack of questions at the meeting most members are happy with the way the club is being run. :D :D :D

Judging by discussion around the braai there is much excitement about our forthcoming events and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Your new committee is Manny, Wessel and Pierre(Bugger).

They will let us all know the specifics of office bearers in due course.

My personal thanks go to Manny for his untiring work that he does day in day out for the club. Also to Ernest and Peter for their invaluable input on the IT side of things and to Paul for taking on the sale of Club Merchandise.

Annual General Meetings are 'grudge' events, no one wants to attend an AGM of any Club or organisation.

The 4x4 Action Group is a bit different in that our AGM's are neither long nor 'stuffy' & we make an effort to make an event of them.
Also, former Chairman Crips made AGM's a 'no cost' outing to improve attendance.
That tradition continues this year with a nice venue, a bit of 4x4'ing & lots of chatting & socialising.

The 2021 AGM was probably the best one yet, it certainly was the best attended (34 members made it - 28% of the Club).

I would like to say THANK YOU to the following:

Firstly, the 34 members who made an effort to attend - appreciated.

Then, to the 4WDCSA for the venue - it was perfect. The 'Cost to Club' for the AGM was only R600.

Finally, to Andreas. Andreas was forced, against his will, to accept the Chairmanship as Kurt, the chosen successor, decided to run away to England.
Andreas stepped in to resolve a 'Constitutional Crises'.
Andreas took over as Chairman on 7 March 2020, 3 weeks later South Africa went into a draconian Lock Down.
Andreas had to navigate the Club through Lock Down & the pandemic for the next year.
Despite this, & despite us having to cancel events like the NKZN trip, under Andreas;
* The amount of events held did not decline.
* Attendance at events did not decline
* The Club Account, despite a drop to R54k during the year, has recovered. Club Account 2020 AGM R74400, 2021 AGM R76 760.
* Club Members dropped from 140 to 120, BUT! the 20 members lost were almost all dormant members, many were members who took longer term memberships 5 years ago & did not renew.
Two members who did not renew had immigrated.
* The 'Active' members actually increased.

So while Andreas served under duress & was only a committee member (& Chairman) for a year - he guided us through our toughest year & we came out stronger, richer & very well poised for the the years ahead.
Andreas, on behalf of the Action Group. I thank you.

Congrats to the new club committee members and also a great thanks to Andreas for taking the reigns after I decided I needed to drive on green lanes rather than most extreme tracks.

And to Manny, this whole thing wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for your tireless efforts and persistent marketing (and sometimes begging) to get the members wheeling.

The club is in a very good place!

When Trump replaced Obama he killed off some of Barack's pet projects, like Obamacare & the environment.
When Biden replaced Trump, he killed off Trump policies like Isolationism, the Keystone pipeline & the wall.

However, we will ensure that Andreas' vision for the club (A kinder gentler club & more female involvement) are continued.
While we will still go wheelin' we will continue to focus more on Overlanding & the Outdoor Lifestyle...
