Secondly, Congratulations to our esteemed Chairman Andreas for single-handedly arranging the 7th annual 4x4 Action Group Year End Function.
We, in the end, had 28 members (our biggest member turn out ever).
We had a total of 60 adults there, which pretty damn good...

Manny's Report:

I'll do it in point form, abrupt, but efficient (much like KurtG);

Some arrived on Thursday.
Most arrived on Friday.
A few arrived on Saturday only.

Tava Lingwe is a really nice venue - if you haven't been - add it to your wish list.

There was over R1million in off-road trailers there - & that's just what Ryno & LesseW brought!
Shane arrived in his 78 Troopy - nice.
The star of the show was Leon's Ford F250 with a 7.3 Turbo Diesel motor.
I'm no Ford fan, but damn!!!!

It rained on Friday.
There was violent winds early on Saturday morning.
Ultimate Bush Master Flip Kotze lost a few tent poles.
Many others had to re-erect 'afdakke' & awnings.
Henri Steyn's awning got blown down too, as did mine.
Cornell's one tent pole on his awning got a little bent - he was in a state & wanted to leave (he drives an Everest).
But I managed to get him to man up & stay - he was much happier once the wind stopped.
Everyone got up early and attend to wind damage - if required...

Once the wind stopped there was a short break & the rain came.
The rain stopped in the early afternoon.
The weather, much like me, was awesome after that.

Bugger & LesseW were like two naughty boys - all afternoon..

Then the formalities.
We had the group photo at 17:00 outside the wedding hall - nice setting.
We then went into the lovely hall for the speeches& awards etc..
Andreas gave a great short speech.
Chas won the '...Spirit... Trophy...? floating'. Chas said he'll weld his name badge to it.
I gave an even better & shorter speech,
Andreas issued strafdoppe. for transgressions over the past year.
End of formalities. Time to have a party at the end of a long tough year

The girls (as is becoming a tradition) got hold of the left-over strafdoppe - and the fun started.

The fires were lit (by Bugger) & we braai'id.
The club, via Tava Lingwe, supplied the side dishes - the pap & sous was awesome.
I hear the salad dressing was fantastic, but Tammy never gave me any - I'll address the oversight with her privately.
The after party was festive - I'm amazed the outdoor wooden table cold carry that many dancing middle aged women!
The kids had an absolute ball!!!
It was great to see all the partners, some at their first 4x4AG event, having so much fun.
From 20:00 guys started heading back to camp & off to bed.
Guests continued slowly until after 23:00, when there was a mass exodus, but a few small tent side die hard sub-parties continued until after 01:00.
I went to bed before midnight as I am well-behaved.

Sunday was a great day, but not for certain guys heads (Francois Loop En Val !:o ) :D

Slowly guys packed up & left, Kurt & LesseW were first out as they had left their wives home & needed to get home before the shops opened. :o

When we left at 11:00, guys like Avon, Chas & Francois hadn't started packing - nice and relaxed

A small group of us stopped at O's in Parys for lunch - grat venue - good food - a fitting end to a great weekend.

Despite the weather (at times); the venue, Andreas' organisation & the great group of people who attended, made this one of our best YEF's yet.

Was really nice to end the year off at such a nice place with such a fun weekend...

If you weren't there - you really missed ou on a great weekend...

Thanks everybody. This was an awesome event. Was nice to put some faces to names, but I for the life of me can't remember damn names. I know I passed a few of the guys on the N1, but they didn't seem to notice me hooting and waving. The Ford was probably too fast... that and I forgot to buy stickers... I'll have to invest in a two-way radio, at least I can chirp Manny when I fly past again...

You weathered the storm well Cornell.
Your kids had a great time... which is the most important thing...

You came flying past me just before the Grasmere Plaza & right behind you was Henri.
But I was driving like Mrs Daisy (Tammy was half asleep & was struggling with post lunch 'Maagie vol, oogies toe)... :D

Thanks guys we had a great weekend.
Thanks Andreas for organizing the YEF.

It was great meeting new people, and good seeing some faces we haven't seen in a long time.
We will share some photos here and face book, and also load them on drop box so pictures can be added, shared, and downloaded in full hi res.
