Ribbokkloof 24 to 27 September 2020

Post by Mad Manny »

What?:
Ribbokkloof 4x4

Website?:
http://ribbokkloof.co.za/

When?:
Thursday 24 September to Sunday 27 September

Why Then:?
Thursday 24th is a Public Holiday, if you take leave Friday you get a long weekend.

Where?:
Ribbokkloof is between Middleburg & Dullstroom, in Mpumalanga.

What Co-Ords?:
GPS: S25 35’21.9” E29 49’023”

Wait! Mpumalanga?:
Yes, but I'm sure inter-provincial travel will be allowed by then.

What Accommodation?:
Chalets:
Adults - R380pppn
Kids 6 - 12 - R180pcpn
Children under 6 years old stay for free.

Camping
R100 for the weekend + R100pppn for adults.
Children 6 to 12 R50.00 pppn
Children under 6 camp for free.

What 4x4'ing?:
There is a very easy trail, even an Amarok could do it.

Cost?:
The Trail is R150

What Now?:
You calculate your costs, pay the amount into the Club account using the reference RBK, then (& only then) you post your details here.

Examples?:
Family of 4, kids are 8 & 12
Chalet: (R380 + R380 + R180 + R180) x 3 nights = R3360 + R150 for the trail = R3510

Family of 4, kids are 8 & 12
Camping: (R100 + R100 + R50 + R50) x 3 nights + the R100 once off = R1000 + R150 for the trail = R1150

By When?: You must pay by Spring Day 1 September

What's the BAD news?:
There is no 220v power, even the chalets run on batteries & 12v (much like 3 Provinces)
Hot water is produced by a gas burners...

The dirt road from the tar road turn off to the farm is not great, you may need stop and deflate & maybe chuck it in 4H…

Question is, would my wife consider this as appropriate for our 6th wedding anniversary... I shall wait for the opportune moment to pop the question...

Can't see why not?
The 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th & 20th are important anniversaries.
The rest are like the Governments Lock Down Regulations - they don't matter.

Anton Bodenstein suggests we take wood or charcoal.
There is plenty firewood there - but it's not Braai Hout...

Me too... at least this one is closer & will take less than half the time to get there. (compared to Koranna Getaway)

I'm also looking forward to a 'No 220v Power' camp to test my Solar system & battery.
