Manny's Report Continued....
The Venue:
About 200m from our campsite is the 'facilities'.
A lovely fenced off area, a small round pool - spotless.
A simple 'Boma' of Corrugated iron - rustic, spotless & very cleverly laid out.
It had a fireplace.
They set up a WiFi Router & give you the code so you can get texts.

The ablutions are also simple, corrugated, but very thoughtfully laid out.
Enough hooks (adapted horse shoes), a lovely screeded floor with none of the bad levels causing puddles like other venues.
The toilet roll holder is a horses bit (stang). There are the best rustic ablutions I have ever seen.

Deon popped past every day (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) to check in with us.

Camp sites 3 & 4 were between us & the Boma & Ablutions, but were smaller.
Sites 6 - 10 across the road are bigger - you could fit 2 campers in each.

Manny's Report Continued....
The Friday Fun:
Wessel decided that we'll combine resources wrt meals.
Friday night was Andreas meal.
Saturday Breakfast was the turn of Sue-Anne & I.
Wessel was doing a potjie on Saturday eve.
Sunday Wessel & Sue-Anne & I (sort of) would do breakfast burgers.

Andreas made a lovely Chicken & Chourico Curry dish (he'll give the name) with garlic bread & salad.
It was awesome.

We had a few drinks & a few good laughs, Wessel wimped out at 10:00, we finished Sue-Anne's a bottle of Gin & I finally got to bed at 01:00.
Somewhat wobbly - but 100% de-stressed.

Manny's Report Continued....
The Saturday:
Wessel got up early & went for a bike ride :?
We got going, had coffee & then made a late breakfast.
Breakfast was almost as good as whatever it was that Andreas had made the night before.

Wessie snuck in an afternoon nap (I think he has 'slaapolepsy').

Then we went down to the Boma so Wessie could do his potjie.

Again, a few relaxing drinks. a few good laughs & a very chilled afternoon.

The lamb potjie was great, as was his full grain potbrood.

We had an early=ish night -Wessel hitting the sack 1st (Slaapolepsy).

The Last Day:
Sunday we were up earlier, had a few cups of decent coffee.
Wessel braai'ied Kudu Patty's & Sue-Anne Fried eggs & we had Kudu Patty, Egg & Cheese Burgers - they were great!.

Then we packed & one by one, we headed home.

Manny's Report Continued....
The Conclusion:
We had a great weekend.

A hallmark of a great weekend is when there is a 'Inhouse' joke that only those that were there will get.

Well we left there with a few:
* Investec Card
* 1 out of 10.
* Hom se...
Etc...
Jokes that you just can't explain to anyone who wasn't there.

The fact that Wessel (who developed a German sense of humour when he was studying over there) had a laugh tells you how funny it was! Image :D :)

We agreed that Lekwena's greatest assets are:
* The road to get there is poor
* The camp sites have no power.
* Although there is a tap at each site - you have to take your own drinking water.
* There is no signal.

Because those attributes will ensure that the riff raff & Kakavanians stay away & Lekwena remains a stunning little gem.

Thank you to:
* Iandvl who's Thread gave us the idea.
* Deon of Lekwena
* Andreas.
* SueAnne &
* Sleepy Wessie.

I needed exactly such a weekend...

PS: We will probably have the YEF there...

Thanks for a great report Porra.

Sleepy Wessie has two young toddlers, I needed to catch-up on 5 years’ lost sleep…

This place is such a gem it might even see me again this coming weekend.
