Where will the AGM be held this year?
No idea yet, we are busy looking at a few different venue's.
If you have any suggestions please let us know?

Any specific reason for the cancellation of the event Manny?
It seems that was a fair bit of interest in this trip.

Paul, I just have too much on club stuff to do.
Club consumes about 8 to 10 hours a week.

Also, the economy is not well, this can be seen in ever poorer interest.

So, to do all that work & then start begging for attendees is just not something I'm up for at the moment.

Have you got an idea of a venue for the YEF?

Pity that the only event I most likely would have been able to do this year has been cancelled. With me having to pull the plug on the Blouberg trip due to my knee replacement, the Moz trip would have been the one for the year. The hectic trails are just not what interests me so now there isn't much to get excited about. Pity really.

Paul, what is interesting, is that I gave TWO reasons for cancelling:
1. I don't have time to arrange it.
2. Potential poor turnout.

What has been enlightening is that:
wrt reason 1. NOT ONE person has stepped up & offered to run with it (out of the half dozen or so who bitched about it's cancellation).
EVERYONE has however, done their utmost to prove reason #2 to be valid - as can be jufged by the very poor turn out at most events of late...

The members of 4x4AG need to step up...

Manny I understand both the reasons you have given for the cancellation. I was very lucky to have done all the events last year and the stars alignment has put a spanner in the works for all the stuff I wanted to do. For future big events on the calendar advertise them as proposed events and then the members that would like to be part of the event must assist in the planning and organising of the event. In that way us newer members can learn from the guys that have done it before. It will then also relieve some of the pressure from the guys on the committee that land up overwhelmed with club commitments. It is not unreasonable of you to want others to shoulder some of the workload. Unfortunately when you have capable people doing it all, they will be left to do it all by us floating in the comfort zone until they rebel.

The Mozambique Trip scheduled for September has been cancelled.
… I remember I was booked to go on this
Epic Overland Trip to Mozambique ,
… told all my friends, saved all my pocket money,
even bought a gat-sakkie bookie on Portugeeees
to converse with the raucous guide …

… then it was all cancelled and I spiralled down
into deep depression, and anxiety …
Had to see a councillor etc etc

Only just recovering now …

… even my only good friend Young Kurt,
found it all too much and the v. last straw,
left and committed himself into
a miserable exile somewhere up there
Near the North Pole…

What was the real reason for this Groot Let-Down ?
I dont recall , I dont … ???

Chas, with this Thread being 2 years old the only way, now, to find the real reason for the cancellation of this 2019 outing would be to read the Thread.
I explain very clearly, in the posts above, the reasons why we had to cancel.
But other than reading the Thread there is no way to find pout why it was cancelled.
So I guess you will never know.
