Lets build a 4x4 Route - 28 & 30 September

Say whaaaat?

Yes. By now we've all seen the 4WD Action video where they take a few vehicles in Aus and go and open a new route. Everybody here said that they would love to do something like that. Well, here is you chance.

We all know Reenen from the 4x4 Community, his builds and his farm. Reenen has an existing 4x4 route on his farm and he can accommodate 10 vehicles. Reenen would like to extend the route and this is the part where we come in. He needs help.

I thought it good that we get a few guys involved at some stage, go to his route and at the same time help build and extend on it.

Reenen suggests that only vehicles with 50mm clearance and good protection come with.

This will indeed be something new, something exciting, if you are willing.

I will share a video of a part of the route with you in the next post

Now we need some volunteers and a date.

A route that needs a back actor is a road, not a trail.

I would love to play along, BTW. SWAMBO's Upright Platkar (AKA Strykyster) has more than 50 mm clearance. I think we need more for the mountain trails on Reenens farm.

Reenen said that 50mm is a minimum if we want to go further than his normal 4x4 route.

I just wish that I can upload the videos he sent me. It is really beautiful and virgin territory

50mm of clearance is less than half that of a standard plat kar.
If you missed a zero, then you're looking at Unimogs.

I will bring the Honda Accord, it has plenty clearance. I think it’s 120mm

I think I may have it wrong but isn't there a thing called a 'centimeter' as well? They use to measure things, like the length of a piece of biltong.

You bunch of jokers really know how to take this 50mm thing far :-)
Interestingly enough, I wonder what the missing digit is?
If it's 500mm (or 50cm), I don't think many of you without portal axles will comply.
So I imagine it has to be 350mm or something - who knows.

Mike, this sounds like a lot of fun, I'd definitely be interested to help and be part of the adventure.
Who's going to start volunteering some dates?

To come back to the lift :) which is actually discussed on the Portal Axles thread, lift is normally, or that is how I see it when you lift the chassis off the ground.

Tyres and Portal axles. And yes. 50mm is about as much as a standard Amarok. ( I’ll run and hide now😂)
