Great Weekend. Thank you to everyone!
What a trip. Took the SussieBussie and played tourist the whole weekend! Leaving Centurion on Friday at 06:30 only to arrive at 14:00 at Uithoek Farm. Driving Golden gate, Clarens, Fouriesburg with many stops. 6 People in the Fortuner and kakavaan on the back. Not kind to my fuel consumption! Took a stroll to the the caves the afternoon, back in camp for a nice braai!
Saturday Morning taking a quick trip to Lesotho(Afriski). Back in SA at 13:00 and ready to hit the tracks at 14:00. Nice easy 4x4 trail with spectacular views! Not very technical, but one I would do again, next time with a nice brunch at the top before descending down. Very Nice caves to go to, makes a good picnic site!
Sunday sleeping late, leaving 11:30 site-seiing back home, gentle driving.
Caves at Uithoek (Marker1 on trail)
4x4 Route Playing a bit
Uithoek Farm highly recommended! And another point for crossing another border for my Cento e Um Desafios (101 Challenges).

Manny's Uithoek Trip Report:
Francois (Panda) very graciously stepped up on behalf of the Free Staters to arrange the FS Weekend.
To encourage/reward the response I decided that the Club would cover the Accommodation costs of all who pot their names down on the original discussion Thread.
So the event was largely 'Club Funded'. No one thanked the Club - 'Hulle moet vir hulle Sumbreele loop haal'
As it was Tanya's birthday weekend, It worked out perfectly - Tanya LOVES the Eastern Free State & enjoys camping.
Turnout was good. 25 to 28 Adults & 7 kids... So I was upbeat about the weekend.
Everyone made their way down to Fourie'sburg on Friday (I must say, I saw more potholes on my trip to Uithoek than I'd seen in greater Jo'burg over the past year. #Shithole)
The roads were quiet & unlike Erin & Chas, I did proper route planning & went directly from point A to B.
Everyone set up camp & our Club Firestater, Bugger, het die vure aangesteek Aat the Lapa.
I had an earlyish night - but others kuiered at the lapa until late - Vic/SAXJ must have regretted setting up camp so close to the kuier area.
Saturday morning everyone (except Peet the Outsider) headed to Die Plaas Stoep Restaurant in Fouriesburg for breakfast.
Chas got lost en route (9km)
The lady there really tried her best, but they were grossly understaffed so service was somewhat dismal - Des got his food 45 mins after I got mine.
However, under the circumstances, the service was forgivable.
But, the coffee was not - if you don't know coffee - don't open up a restaurant!
We arranged a birthday cake for Tanya & sang her happy birthday!
Then most of the group went back to Uithoek to drive the mountain route - a group of us headed to Clarens (I'd done the mountain route before - besides, birthday girl wanted to go to Clarens).
After a beer or two we headed back to Uithoek, Chas was with us but got lost on the way back.
Tristan was great, spending a lot of time with little Franco - Francois & Sante's boy.
He also brought me drinks all weekend...
Thanks to Burger, we could watch the game, but, thanks to Burger, only on an I-Pad!
Firestarter Bugger again lit the fires (Uithoek hadn't bothered cleaning the braais from last night - which I thought was bit slack - so Johannes cleaned them).
Saturday was another braai & kuier.
On Sunday we packed up & headed back - I hope Chas didn't get lost en route home.
Overall a nice rustige camp weekend, it was great to see the Freestaters (The Herbst''s, Burger & Bianca, the Meyburg's).
Also lekker to see Ninja & the elusive Peet & his entourage as well as Vic & Maryna.
Then the old regulars; Bugger & Renay, Andreas, Johannes, Chas the Directionless & Erin.
Then, we finally got to meet Kevin/Psy Phin & family - he is OK for an IT geek. I think he will fit in just fine.
Finally, a big THANK YOU to Shane, the only Free Stater to NOT make it. The weekend was better for your absence Shane...

Many thanks for the weekend guys and especially
Francois for arranging.
Good to meet the Patrollers too .
Great venue I will revisit in months to come
and perhaps for a longer stay.
… So its quite understandable that the irrepressible Mannyfold would get overly excited and prone to loud and wild exaggeration … overdosing on the Gin I suspect !!!

Chas, I find this comment ironic.
I get the idea that you've been over-indulging in smoking turbo-lettuce whenever I read your posts...

When the TV series LOST was launched, Chas thought it was a helpline...

I was too busy driving / camping / chasing the little one to get more footage. Here is what I put together quickly.
