Martin ignored the now universally followed De Freitas Doctrine of always saving Post #2 for the attendance list... Tut, Tut...

Martin, sorry - I've not posted on this thread as there is no ways I am going to make it. I've got a few weeks left before I head out on a "mini river trip" and a few days in the KNP. I have a gazillion things to sort out before that. Especially since I get home after that and fly out to Angola for a couple of weeks a few days after getting back.

Having had a very poor response from the club, initially I felt despondent.
However those that know me, knows I do not let silly things get me down.
Esther and I arrived on Friday afternoon, met Johnny and set our camping area, I have not seen my wife this eager to get out and enjoy a camp in our Invader Duo - the first outing in months. The weather played it's part - it was not cold at all.
Saturday morning JP (Ninja) arrived with Anita, and a special friend of mine (total novice) Gert and Gertjie and another friend, Blaau arrived around 08h00. So again from all the Facebook adverts, not a single soul responded or pitched.
We were going to have this track for ourselves, Johnny had some friends and family driving with.
Gert bought this stunning Willy's Jeep and was brimming from ear to ear, not knowing what to expect, it was JP's first on the track as well.
The track was extremely dry, compared to other times, being a small field I could give Gert special advice, and son altered at every obstacle, as we went along it was clear these guys were having the best day of their lives. What our club members take for granted, was extremely special for them. It is a nice compact site, a play pen for those eager to get out, the track offers everything, a bridge nice descents, tyre obstacles, a real gem.
We then crossed over to the more natural Slote, natural track full of surprises, real twisty's, a place you can let off steam & de-stress,
We were playing, had fun in some mud, myself showing how its done - why not? We live only once! The one hole is a real slush puppy pit, The Willy's and that V8 really sounded awesome, Gertjie , the son was full of mud, and we had to recover him out of the pit. JP and Anita commented on the experience and both agreed that such a compact arrangement offered a lot of fun, not threatening to damage your vehicle.
we then drove the track in reverse, testing opposite angles, I went through the last mud-hole and de-beaded my front r/h tire, team play tested we changed to the spare.
We went back to base to clean and have lunch.
At three that afternoon we went up the mountain a real testing route going up deep into the mountain and then dropping off again, stood at the lookout point and admired Harties in the distance.
Jp and Anita departed thereafter. I presented the guys with a gift pack sponsored by Tiger Wheel and Tyre, a car care pack valued at around R500.00.
We left this afternoon around Three and had an awesome relaxed weekend.
This venue offers so much, no limits on what you do.
Next time hopefully we will have a better response.
