No jokes - check around the bean sack and in the groin. The smaller pepper ticks have a tendency to go up there.

Trip Report:

We all met up at Wolwekloof on Sunday 9 Jan, we were supposed to start at 8 am but because Wolwekloof sent us their location pin + 10km of dirt road, we only started at around 8:15. Also, when we got their the fee was R200 and not R100 as i was told over the phone.

I have never been to Wolwekloof and Martin de Jager volunteered to take the lead (a big thank you for this and a job well done). We deflated and off we went, for 400m.... We entered their so called sandpit which is actually a Mud/Snot pit (after the heavy rains) in which Johannes, Anton, Martin and I got stuck. Douw and Rainer with their huge wheels and endless power assisted us to get out, Anton's winch also helped to get us out until it packed up. It was really fun to drive through the Mud pit and to use some recovery and snatch ropes which were gathering dust, although we consumed 1 Hour to cover 600m.

After the mud pit we soon reached some challenging rock climbs which were:

- steep
- proper rocky axle twisters which caused undercarriage bumps and scratches
- covered with water flowing non-stop, very slippery
- huge rocks on both sides of a vehicle as you climb, you had to maneuver well not to hit rocks on the sides
- steep side slopes (I took my kids with and they started going ballistic on a side slope, I took the kids out and asked Anton to finish the side slope in the Prado since I got deja vu of a FJ rolling over my arm again). A big thank you to Anton for assisting with the rock climbs, he guided most of us up the rock climbs and with that he packed many rocks on others' behalf.

After the rock climbs we did the rest of the trail which was not that challenging but with this trail you need to stay sharp and watch out all the time for:

- rocks in the long grass
- massive erosion that creeps up on you in the long grass, the road just suddenly ends up in a donga
- side erosion on side slopes, heavy vehicles should specifically be careful as the side of the road can just give in and "roll, roll, roll your boat gently..."

We ended the trail after 12am with some still playing on the 4x4 competition course obstacles next to the reception area. Others braaied and we decided to hit the road since the 2 and 5 year old were gatvol and their nerves were in shatters.

This was really a fun day, the attendees were in good spirit and we enjoyed the trail properly. The trail is challenging and the landscape beautiful, no animals to view though. You share the trail with bikers but it did not bother us.

Advice for this trail, use it/don't use it:

- This is not for 4x4 first timers, you will cry during and after the trail.
- Do not take your small kids with unless you want to go insane on the trail
- Your vehicle will bump rocks on your rear and front bumpers, rock sliders and belly plates. Make peace with it from the start and make sure your vehicle is well protected.
- Take recovery equipment with and ensure one vehicle is well equipped for recoveries (power and proper tires)

Lastly, this trip consumed less that 1 hour of my time to arrange. I leave it to others to arrange the next trip, it is just a phone call and forum thread away.....

The kids screamed a second time, that was you. Anton did the side slope in the rock climb. Thanks for your help also Renier!

Yes it is a classic RR 2 door but not standard

Pity I missed this trip

I did WolweKloof a few years ago with the Syncro
And must add I had to use all my experience as mentioned Steep and sharp rocks with steps
Was a challenge but managed
