That spot Manny took photos was a real challenge on the way down, very difficult to read.
But a great time was had by all, an event that will definitely be remembered by myself for a long time to come, an event that I waited 4 years to do.
I am priveledged indeed.

What a lekker trip!
Henri did an outstanding job of arranging!
A trip report is on it's way, but here are my comments...
We all met at the Diggers Inn Retreat and Roelf gave us a brief speech.
We then headed up, through the mine, to the freshly cleared camp area.
As the sun was setting we set up rapidly in the dying light.
Everyone then did their own thing wrt braais.
Most did their own small braai's but a group of us braai'd together as we were more sociable.
This is wild camping, but they did set up two 'Porta Potty's' for us.
Next morning I had a quick shower at Chez Steyn, packed and we headed off for a most enjoyable & educational day.
Learning about the mining, Sheba (SA's oldest Gold Mine) Fairview (one of the most profitable) learning about the geology etc.
Even the small grave yard for the Eureka village population (some of whom died at sea when the Drummond Castle sank off East Africa) was fascinating.
The 4x4'ing was technical & you needed to concentrate -- but it's not too challenging.
We got back around 16:00 - dealt with the formalities & strafdoppe & then had a braai - mostly together.
A chill wind sent me to bed early, the next day we packed up, a few of us who missed out on Eureka City (it was home to 700 in the late 1800's) popped in to see it. Henri was enthralled.
Then the 4 hour drive home.
I'm sure Clint's Trip Report will add more info &, knowing Clint, should be entertaining.
I highly recommend this trip. I'm not into mining or geology & I found it fascinatingly interesting.
Roelf Le Roux was an outstanding host & guide. He has immense knowledge & shared it freely.
Thank you.
Thank you to this awesome club.
Thank you to all the members who attended.
Thanks to Henri Steyn for organising.
Thanks to Henri & Sue for the showers.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Roelf - a real Mensch...
Those who were not there - you missed a great, memorable, interesting weekend.
