Bugger, will you be staying for the braai?

Please remember to bring your own chairs, meat and drinks.

See you all there.

I attended the event yesterday.
I was the1st to arrive - just after 08:30.
As I arrived a Disco 2 drove out the Nomadic Gear workshop & left.
Turns out Dawie had worked through the night to finish a 12v system install.

Not many would do that for a customer.

Others arrived & at around 09:30 we kicked off.

There were 14 attendees (excluding Dawie & his wife).
Nine associated with the 4x4 Action Group & 5 others.

Another couple arrived during the presentation bringing the total to 16 attendees.

The presentation was, as advertised, aimed at beginners, but all but 1 attendee were experienced campers.
There was a few minutes of very technical discussion about towing & trailers - by attendees.
But then it got back to basics.

Nonetheless, even I, a Camping God, picked up a few tips.

Dawie & Jolene did a very good job, especially considering they'd worked through the night.

Afterwards we had a braai, Bugger & Renay arrived - he had power supply issues at home & missed the presentation.
In fact, I didn't see a single working traffic light in Kempton.
Ekhurleni seemed to have grid issues.
Bugger was in a SWB VW Kombi 4-Motion he had just bought - nice potential overlander.

Herman (Combat-19/Angel Offroad/Angel Solar/Angel Construction etc.) arrived & later his son, Cameron pitched up.

So all in all, 20 people attended.

I'd like to thank Paul#25, Bugjuc, Woolf, Erin, Jotto & his wife, RenierC, Bugger & Renay & Petervil for supporting the event.
It was nice to see the 4x4 AG members...

Obviously, big thanks to Dawie & Jolene of Nomadic Gear for hosting.

BTW: I had a look at some of his products - his work is very good...

Thanks to everyone that joined up for this chat session. There were some interesting comments from the group during the discussion that would be good info for even the seasoned traveler. I'd forgotten about not braking hard enough to activate your trailer or caravan brake at the top of a pass. If you do, the braking is liable to stay on for the whole descent, which will overheat the brakes and hubs/wheel bearings.
As Manny mentioned, Dawie worked through the night to enable his customer to leave on time for his trip. I don't know if any other fitment businesses would do something like this for a customer.
It was nice to meet some of the members face to face as I haven't been to many events in the last while.
