Ouberg Pass - between Sutherland and Tankwa

I am planning a trip which includes travel from Sutherland over the Ouberg Pass to Perdekraal campsite.

I will be towing a Jurgens Xplorer.

Doable?

Definitely doable.
We towed two quads behind our Defender 90 last year.
Just take it slow and enjoy, this is a spectacular pass.

Here is the description of the pass from Mountain Passes South Africa. Hope this helps.

This particular Ouberg Pass (there are another three - one in the Northern Cape near Sutherland and the other near Gifberg (W/Cape) with the fthird being in the Eastern Cape near Graaff-Reinet) is a well-designed gravel pass linking the town of Montagu with the Karoo highlands and remote towns like Sutherland, Matjiesfontein and Touwsrivier as well as providing an access route to the fabulous Anysberg Nature Reserve.

It is a perennial favourite with offroad clubs and touring bikers, but due to its good design and reasonable gradients, is suitable for all vehicles. It contains 38 bends, corners and curves within its 7,8 km length, with an altitude variance of 497m, producing an average gradient of under 1:16.

I think the one in question is the Sutherland pass? Your reply concerns the Montagu version?

The description post by Paul is very vague, although it is in that general area.

Tracks 4Africa shows it clearly. Google Maps does not know it unless you physically zoom in and add the wayward point as a destination..

Tankwa Tourism FB page has also given useful info, looks fine to travel.

Otherwise we have to travel a detour around to the south end of the park, latch onto the famous R355, and then cut back into the park to the mountain.

And I want to tick off this pass (and many others) on this trip.
