Surely "overlanding" should be attempted by a vehicle designed for it?

Using a vehicle outside of its design parameters causes excessive and accelerated wear as Andreas says.

Maybe consider a commercial grade vehicle next time.
In a perfect world, theoretically, you'd be correct Jakes.
Buy how many people can afford a daily runabout/family holiday vehicle AND a dedicated Overlander....

That's the price of a small camping trailer these days.
Also, a C1 license is easier to pass than an EB

5km/L is basically the same as a loaded FJ Cruiser or 4.2 Cruiser.

Ha ha ha Pierre that Syncro of yours took a beating from that Bots trip. Is it back on the road?
Yip had to take Gearbox out twice
Once removing the Khubu island mud and 2nd time the Seized Thrust bearing

Done a huge amount of work on it to get it up to Speck again
But that salt still eating away on wires and body

I used the Touareg to Nam and had air suspension problems
Sorted that and Resently to Botswana without any issues as we did Lots of Preventative maintenance
Tiered and trailing arms etc
Now it is a Vehicle I enjoy on trails aswell

But recently Accuired a 4MOTION Transporter I will use for sort overlanding
Space is a bonus
Syncro Cox Camper
SJ 410 TarzanTiny
Millennium Beetle VR6 T Liberty
