Steve, could you give an overview of
the equipment, process/es, time etc
you use to produce your videos …
Im trying to assess the resources, techniques, effort etc
required to produce such effective video coverage.

Hi there

I will be doing a video on my production equipment in a few weeks' time. In the meantime, here is a short version.

My camera equipment has changed over time. The current cameras are:

- Canon Legria HF G50 video camera - this is my main camera - I usually use it on a Manfrotto monopod to get the most stable footage.
- Insta360 One R - usually mounted to the windscreen and films, as the name implies, a 360 view - so it captures what we are looking at as well as us in the car. I can also set it up on a small selfie stick or tripod to get walking footage and vehicle drive-bys.
- DJI Osmo with built-in gimbal - awesome for landscapes and establishing shots with some movement
- DJI Mavic Pro drone - for arial shots - very cumbersome and many laws so I don't use it too often.

All cameras shoot in 4K except for the 360 which films 5,7K.

For sound:

- Two Rode Video Micros which I can mount on the Canon or Insta360.
- A Rode Wireless Go for talking to the camera (mainly when driving).
- A Zoom H5 recorder with shotgun capsule for capturing ambient sounds.
- A Rode NT1 studio microphone with AI1 interface for voiceovers.

For editing, I use Final Cut Pro X on my Imac. The editing process is really time consuming - I have never timed it but an edit can take several days or even weeks with an hour or two here and there per day.

Lastly, I get my music from Epidemic Sound - I have a monthly subscription.

I get a lot of joy from producing a good video. So, for me, the effort and time is worth it. In fact I am currently setting up a production company so I can do this kind of thing full time - I should be up and running by the end of the year.

What I like about Steve's video's - and I have been watching them for nearly a decade, is that unlike other Youtubers, Steve doesn't do it for the Views - he makes his videos for himself.
So there is none of this 'please watch, please subscribe, click-bait crap'.
Also, not being like many other Youtubers, who get a few views & then think they are Hollywood A-listers . there is no ego dripping out of Steve's video.
