I watched that last night. Shauno bought a brand new LC200 & the took it to be chopped.
Obviously he isn't paying for the chop.

Interestingly, he punted various things the guys doing his freebie do;
* A plain flat rear panel.
* Re-using the old chassis but just joining it with extension pieces.
Etc.Etc.
Then, Youtube, doing it's 'Predictive Interest' trick, automatically showed me another LC200 chop build directly after.
This was also an Aussie Youtuber getting a Freebie LC200 chop.
But this one was a company in Townsville.
Very interesting watching them back to back.
The Touwnsville guy fits a LC79 back wall section, which has the NVH indentations.
Then he fits a complete new custom made rear chassis, he doesn't reuse the old one.
They also do a diff re-gear so it can take the extra weight.

The2nd show wasn't as slickly produced as AWD24/7 - but it covered the legalities & technicalities better.

If I had to choose, I'd go for the Touwnsville crowd over Showno's crowd.

But given that there are about 7 companies in Arsetrailia doing LC200 chops & each have done a few dozen, Toyota should consider either bricking out a LC200 '79' or they should offer the LC79 with the 6 speed auto & more features & maybe in a LWB with a 300mm longer wheelbase..

The LC200 chassis was made about 650mm longer, enough to warrant an extra universal in the drive shaft extension.
imagine the worshond look of a LC200 that is almost a meter longer :)

Toyota already offer the Tundra.
Although it is most probably not offered in OZ, or for sure not in SA. It is also not available in diesel.

My point, Toyota already have a standard product available and a great one at that.

Good point Onwards.
The Tundra is 820mm longer than a LC200 & it's Wheelbase is also 800mm longer (more or less).
So a RHD Diesel Tundra would make the perfect vehicle for these builds & would cost a lot less.
But...
* You don't get it in diesel as you say.
* You don't get it in RHD.

Patriot campers actually do a Dodge Ram camper.
So there is that option available to the Ozzie's...

the standard LC200 has a Wheelbase of 2850mm and a overall length of 4990mm
They increase these to 3500mm & 5640mm.
But a standard Amarok has a wheelbase of 3090mm and a overall length of 5254mm.
That's only 384mm longer than the 'Rok.
So the Modded LC200 is not much more worshondagtig than a stock 'Rok.
Remember, 650mm is the max extension length, others do shorter 450mm & 5??mm extensions.

BTW, Patriot said their lengthened LC200 has a better turning circle than a stock LC79 D/Cab...,

With such extensions there are structural challenges wrt the demanding span and chassis strength requirements etc ... they should really bring Land Rover in as technical consultants ...

Good to know there is a place in Townsville doing this :D

But. I won't chop a 200. It doesn't make sense. $100K vehicle and then spending another $100K on a build.
I would rather buy a 6x6 and get it over with
