Very sound advice Ian.

I have found over the years that it's not a question of IF you are going to get bogged down in sand, but rather WHEN. And it is how you handle it from there that can make a day either very long or very short.

I love driving in sand as much as I love swimming in the ocean. It's fantastic until things go south. Never, ever think You've mastered it

Thanks Ian for Typing it out. Exactly what we have done for most points.

Actually thinking of putting a more detailed video together on it.

We actually considered only deflating to 1.5 bar only to show what happens if you don't deflate enough. Just ran out of time a bit.

I have heard and seen many report on the new trail at the Lion and Safari Park. I was not sure what to expect. Was it too rough? Will it be ok for a standard vehicle? I therefore got a couple of experienced guys together and went out to explore the trail. Terence guided us very well.

I have put a video together that will hopefully show clearly what to expect. In the process of doing the trail I had a bit of a mishap...

Manual 4x4s have been smuggled to Zim, Moz and Malawi until 10 years ago when they were fully “exported” out of SA. If you still own one you are a either a fossil or you own an Isuzu or a Defender….

You can go out right now and buy a manual gearbox 4x4 brand new, off the showroom floor. There is no need to go back in time or go to a neighbouring country, just pop to a good brand's dealership...

Following the incident between the Fortuner and a Rock I took the vehicle in to Wildog. Thumbs up to them for the service they have provided.

This looks like gratuitous crap advertising from someone who got a free product. You can do better.

I dunno Andreas, if anything, to me, his video does Wilddog no favours.
Firstly their bumper got easily dislodged, secondly, they decided to add that Central locating bolt, meaning their original install was inadequate.

All I got from the last two videos is that Wilddog build lightweight bumpers.

I've hit my Onca bumper MUCH harder, on two occasions, even bending the metal, but it didn't need to be removed and remounted....

I pretty much take great offense by this statement and kindly request an apology.

Not a single item on my Fortuner is sponsored. I paid for every item on it. Nothing on this channel is sponsored in fact, all the trails and trips I go onto I pay the full price. If I promote something or someone I do it out of free will since I believe they offer a good product or a good venue (trail) or trip (for example all my trips with Halfway Toyota I pay the normal price everyone pays).

I have paid for this specific bumper myself. The only thing that Wildog did for me was to offer to check it for me free of charge. This after I have approached them. I recommend this product since it has protected my vehicle extremely well (proven in the previous video).

I put the video out there to show that it is important to check your equipment after a bump. Luckily during this process they were able to point out that the bumper was not installed 100% correctly and fixed it for me. (The was no locking bolt). Note that the bumper was not initially installed by Wildog themselves.

So the guy now watching the video will know that when he installs his bumper he could check that it is fitted accordingly. He will now also know how well the bumper protects the vehicle. I could have left it at the initial video without showing people any potential damage (if there were big damage I would have showed it).

Hi Manny

Your statement is not 100% correct,

The bolt not fitted was not their mistake, but the original installer. So basically the slots is placed in such away that you can align the bumper correctly. You then need to drill a hole through which you fit a bolt that locks the bumper in place. If this was in place the bumper would not have moved. Basically I would have only had the scratch on the bumper (which I fixed myself by touching it up with black matt spray paint I have for touching up the rock slider every now and again).
