Out of curiosity, when towing, say another big 4x4 on your trailer (not mentioning brands coz that's not what this is about), what is your fuel consumption?
How does it compare when you are not towing?
That image of you towing the 4x4 and the off road caravan, I can only imagine the consumption!

The fuel consumption doesn't jump around that much. A load like this will return about 7-7.5km/l

That big F250 from Windhoek was about 6-6.2km/l.

Not towing, I get about 8-8.5km/l

Not so bad huh.

Henri what went wrong with the F250. Were in the market for one a few years ago but one of the reasons for not buying one were spare part availability cross border.

Good day all,

Having done a few recoveries recently, in our club we have done one at each event since Groenkloof. I thought I would share this particular one.

One of the toughest I have seen. so easy for things to go wrong.

As stated before in the last four events, each time we have had to perform a recovery, sometimes through nothing else but silly mistakes, people underestimating the circumstances.

Yes this guy has def done this before. Caution is the better part of valour.

I just would take better care of the equipment.

Well Planned recovery. A few things to note. ONE guy took control. The rest might have had their say about the way to go about it but when the recovery started they shut up and listened.

I think hand held radios would have helped for communication.

The drivers focused on their guides and did what they were told.

Matt’s off-road recovery YouTube channel is very popular and he is very good at his craft.

Agree with our esteemed leader, radios would have made it a lot easier, but they got the job done.

Totally agree. 2 "boffins" always ends in disaster.
