Ropes for 4x4 use.

#1

Post by Paul#25 »

While looking for synthetic rope for another application I found this company that supplies ropes for use in 4x4 type applications.
They have soft shackles, kinetic tow ropes and synthetic winch rope available. I haven't enquired as to selling to the public or pricing on any of their products but felt this information may be helpful to our members.

They do sell to the public but not always easy to get the exact lengths you want as they are more geared to selling whole coils of the stuff.
Up in JHB they have an outlet called Tiger ropes in Krugersdop but I have not had any luck dealing with them at all.

Easier to get someone down in Capetown to go and by for you and then send it up

We are waiting for a catalogue from the Tiger Ropes guys with all the 4x4 related stuff they supply. They have ready made up products as well as being able to buy the ropes on their own. So far the contact has been very helpful and prompt with supplying information.
I'll update again when I have more info.

Hope you have more luck I did with Tiger.

Just for reference. I bought 30m of the 8mm super12 winch rope.
Came to R950 with a shared Postnet shipment to JHB.

Herman's Pofadder is essentially "mooring rope" available from any boating shop in the length you require

Southern Ropes have been around for a while. They make up snatch ropes to order, with all the trimmings.
