Choosing the right winch.

An important thing which is often forgotten with winching is that the more cable is on the winch, the less powerful they are.

There’s a big drop in pulling power, so the winch can struggle if it isn’t let out far enough.

Chris have a look at the winch websites because they usually have a scale diagram. So a 8000lbs winch could lose 40% if not rolled out enough. This will make it a 4800lbs winch. This is why they burn out.
