So I managed to Strip 1st gear before I even made it out my Driveway for a road test, on Saturday 27 July.

Had to hustle and replace the 1st gear in the box and get ready to race 28July.

I still had quite a few things to do and test the gear lever. The base was moved and I test drove and did adjustments while the buggy was on the Hoist.

The Saturday night at around 9pm finished and pulled Flagbuggy onto the trailer to race the next day.

Sunday came and I managed to do 4 runs getting valid info.

Best and last run was a 12.3 seconds with 190km/h on the return trip I checked boost and had the pedal down. At this point the Splines in the dual clutch setup stripped.

So again got some homework to do

I have ordered a chrome moly main shaft with a longer ratio 1st gear and 2nd gear ratio from the USA that I can launch much harder without fear of stripping 1st gear.

Sent the Clutch plates in for new centers that will be Wire cut to make it fit like a Glove:

So just before the second event
We had the Flagbuggy on the Dyno
By now I installed the Chrome Molly
Mainshaft that exists of 1st and 2nd gear for much harder Launches
340Kw
468Nm
On the Wheels wich is fairly good figures
On the 200M 1/8th mile event I managed a 7.4 sec and 154Km/h

Beating some of the Strong competitors

On my 4th Run For Qualifying as I Launched my 1 Oil cooler pipe that was Crimped with proper collar not tightened with a normal hose clamp
Shot off

At that stage you concentrating on staging lights and green you go.

Right then the cooler pipe came off and no oil pressure and by time I hit 2nd gear I see a big ball of smoke in Rearview mirror and immediately blacked off
And noticed oil light is on

Changed to neutral and switched engine off

At that time I heard a sound of Pots and Pans coming from the Turbo side

I knew the Turbo was totally destroyed

Free wheeled down track but without knowing speeding oil all the way down track

So I got towed back to pits and loaded Flagbuggy on the trailer

Put a 19mm spanner on the crank nut as I wanted to see if engine is turning
But it was tight and not turning

Then The least I could do is take 50L of my Race fuel and go help scrub the track and clean

We stripped the engine and #2 Rotor seized on the crank

Luckily by quick thinking and engine cut the Rotor housings and Side plates are usable

Spoke to the Hydraulic company who did the work
All they offered was to re crimp
Not answers we are looking for

As a Business man myself I know we all make mistakes
Racing comes with its headaches

I'm looking at incident rather in the Positive

We will be doing some engine and Turbo upgrades and aiming for around 450kw or more on the wheels

I'll post some pics for you guys of my Flag inspired Race suite as I had to get a Double layer for the Use of Fuel mix
Ethanol mix of 50/50 Image

Some of the Fuel System upgrade injectors are 2000cc and moved the fuel cell and Charge cooler
Same time built a duel round surge tank for supplying both 044 pumps
With all new braided piping with Teflon inners that is Full Methanol and Ethanol compatable
Boost pipes also got attention with some fancy duel O ring connectors to keep boost inside ImageImageImageImageImageImage

It was my work horse
Loaded 750 bricks with out any.problem and 3 crew
It felt like floating home with that load but never gave up.

Rotary turbo installed
Charge cooled
900cc injectors
Knight sport turbo upgrade
Small bridge port
Rising rate fuel pressure regulator
Cooper clutch
Semi double diaphragm pressure plate
Microtech ecu
Made 236kw and 400Nm power on the wheels

Gearbox I used a Syncro diff housing center portion for the ability of Vacuum Diff lock
Changer 3de and 4th gears to coarse teeth and welded the helix to gear
4th gear ratio also changed from 0.88 to 0.82 for long legs

I'll post some more pics of progress

But the Front Diff and Cvs are installed and Golf Engine and rear Transmission

Had to cut very little on Chassis and make 1 bracket as the chassis differ very slight from Double cab to Microbus

Busy repairing the MP9 ecu Harnass and sent the Ecu in to load std program as it had Polo cup mapping on

So Syncro conversion making it Full 4x4 is completed with Front and Rear diff lock working off Vacuum

Few small other snags to sort butdriving very nice

Then strip windows and some interior bits to have the rust worms sorted
Luckily more surface rust than major

Another project
My wives cabrio
1 of 14 I built in 2001 for Pick n Pay for their 25th Birthday bash

I'll tell the full story later

But for now
Sorted a 2020cc Aircooled motor out for it with twin Webber carbs
Extra external deep oil sump
And W110 Engle Torqey cam

A std 1600 bug motor make an average of 17Kw on the wheels

This motor made 56Kw and 151Nm torq (2L golf make 135Nm)

And with a long Ratio transmission makes this bug a nice punch on the Road ImageImageImageImage
