1987 2JZ Cruiser build, sort of.

Over the past weekend I fetched an old family friend. My brother bought the cruiser 8 years ago and it was the off road toy, it couldn't be anything else as the body was so rusted you could inspect the diff through the body panels.

It went good for a while until the day my boet got his hands on a 2jz motor for a BARGAIN, I mean R4000 from a toppie that didn't know what it was.

That was 4 year's ago and the cruiser has been standing and every couple of months a new part was fitted to complete the conversion and I eventually stripped my moer 2 months ago and took ownership of it.

Fast forward to today and the motor is running with only the final mapping needing to be done on the dyno. But before that happens I want to replace all of the diff seals and bearings, replace all fluids and get the brakes working.

I will only be working on it once a month over a weekend due to my job.

One thing that I really want to do is a dual transfercase, apparently it's easy with these old toyota's so it's going on the "to do" list.

The body is beyond repair so I'm going to treat the rust then leave it as is for now, kind of a limpopo rat rod. 8-)

It's been a while since I had some time on my hands to work on the cruiser so yesterday I threw some spanners at it.

Now when the day I collected it at the at the guy who installed the 2jz motor he said everything was good and ready to run. My brother then took it to guy no. 2 to get the management installed and on the day of collection after the spitronix had been put in place he proudly mentioned all of the additional work that he had done & if will purr like a kitten once I get it to a tuner to get the map loaded.

Luckily I dont trust anybody if they boast about work done that you cannot see unless you unbolt a couple of stuff.

The list of poor workmanship on display on the entire install is too depressing to put into writing but some of the highlights are,

*Moertoe sparkplugs, no. 2 said he replaced them
*Bellhousing only held on by the bottom 4 bolts.
*Coils not fastened and one is broken.
*Radiator supports only tac welded.
*No oil in the gearbox and tranfercase.
*At this point I sounded like my dad the day one of his cows lifted him by the crown jewels with her horns over kraal fence.

I will continue once the new parts arrive.

Just for reference on the pic, the left coil is what it's supposed to look like and the right is the crap the management installer taped together to get it to work.

Goldwagen bmw coils en plug drade.
Die laaste ding wat mens nodig het is om in middel van nerens te loop en pencil coils soek wat niemand aanhou.

Bmw coils spotgoedkoop, werk net so goed, en by elke midas beskikbaar. Ek ry met 2 spaar agter in seatcover, maar nog nooit nodig gehad.

En gewone plugs. Ruil maar jou gewone ngk of bosh elke 30 000km (leeftyd in n speelding), los daai R600 n plug gemors
