I mentioned earlier that I get the difference between a "map" and a "chip".

I'm not comfortable with either.

I do not see how you can reduce consumption and/or increase performance without over-riding limits set by the manufacturer.

I've also indicated that we can agree to disagree.

My honest point of view is that reliability trumps anything else. Tampering with these things have other implications.

For example, that thing about fiddle, fiddle, f*cked. :)

Ian, the best upgrade for your truck that will halve the consumption and double the torque is the TD42T chip...........

No chips in a TD42. Single-wire motor. But yes, I know. I'll leave it for a bit still though. :)

The 2017 and 2018 200 Cruisers all had 175kw and 625Nm from the factory floor.

2019 onwards they all got a bit more ooph when the Toyota engineers took their 10mm socket wrenches to the engin. They went up from the above mentioned figures to the new 195odd Kws and 650Nms without compromising on reliability.

It’s safe to say that those 4.5 V8’s are very under stressed and that mapping it to gain an additional 15% wouldn’t influence reliability.

As far as fuel saving goes, who knows?

Mike, I'm not expert on chips / maps / mods. Not even Toyota engines - although I have been schooled on the Toy 4A-GE motor, which was apparently exceptional and light years ahead of its time in ZA.

But from a large motor and Nissan perspective, the TB48 and TD42 motors are also super under-stressed.

A lot of people turbo them with no issues. But the folk who turbo them properly are experts and replace motor internals too.

But there are horror stories as well. As I said, the TB45 does not lend itself to these things well, and I've got an almost complete TB45 motor lying around at home with a con-rod through the block. My motor, but not my motor. I strip spares for other people off it occasionally / when required.

I am sure you can have a quick solution to performance/consumption/whatever. All of this comes at a cost. That cost I am not going to play round with. But as I said, different strokes, different folks.

He should have bought the LC300 V6 3.3 twin turbo Hot Vee.
It has the 225kW he now longs for & enough torque to pull a Freestater off his sussie.....

Wessel would need two things in his life to be able to afford a 300 Cruiser.

1) be single and childless
2) earn Manny money

Haven’t read the thread. Not going to. You have a big heavy car and want to drive it like a Gti and still get good fuel consumption. Not going to happen. Live with it.
