Give me some pointers on Adjusting the

Handbrake

Adjusting the Steel rod front to back to cables

What I have done

Adjusted the brake shoooo adjuster till I had slight braking drag when spinning the rim and tyre
Relaxed the adjuster back so wheel spins nice and freely -I do not want brake shoes to drag slightly against brake drum possibly causing heat build up

Adjusted handbrake and works very well now

The rod I have tightened up that it just touch the back of the Tow hitch rod
When I push against it as if trailer is pushing forward to the Tow Vehicle it brakes the wheel

I do not want the brakes set to.tight for possibly trailer wheels locking up.under braking

So, you fitted new:
Brakes
Bearings
Tyres
Lights

You've refurbished
The tow hitch
The wiring

You've recovered the mattress.

How is the fridge and the 64Ah batteries doing?

You have done what is required adjust both trailer brakes and hand brake.

You will now have to do fine adjustment by doing a few test drives, starting with a few hard brake tests. This will determine if firstly the brakes engage evenly (if not, one wheel will lock-up) and secondly that the brakes engage before the trailer rams the tow hitch. You need to adjust accordingly.

Some trailers have a brake combiner. This is simply a piece of angle iron to which the brake rod that couples the tow hitch to the individual cables that go to the brake drums. Individual adjustment can be done here, much easier than doing it at the brake drum.

Lastly you need to do a longer trip to determine if the brakes are not dragging and the wheel bearings are fine. By touching each hub cover you will know what is what.

The twin wheel jockey works very well. Consider removing it when towing. I fitted an extra clamp on the A frame of my van, but you may not have space on the trailer A frame, so consider a clamp where you have removed rhs jerry can.

The older model NL fridges do not have setting instructions on the NL website. If you have one of these, let me know
