Prado 120 suspension replacement

Morning everyone,

I know everyone will only reply late since you should all be in church now.

I am not happy with the Camil suspension on my Prado 120, I bought it like that and wanted to try it out first since it gives a good lift. Why don’t I like the Camil:

1. It is too soft and it sags when loaded
2. When I go over obstacles and step on the brakes, the Prado’s weight just flattens the Camil suspension and I belly bump all the time.

I had Mikem/Bilstein suspension on my Prado 150Tx before I sold it, this combo gave a nice lift and I could load the vehicle without sag (due to the progressive coils).

My question to the members, what suspension will you replace the Camil suspension with? Of course budget matters and it does not make sense to put FOX on a Prado 120.

Thanks for the help.

Wessel, as I mentioned to you at DVR, I fitted the Iron Man Foam cell , fitted via TWT Springs, honestly speaking, I have tested EFS, never again, Old Man Emo, very good, Ransho's very good but impractical. The new shocks is serviceable, and really compensates very well.
Considering how heavy my Fortuner was loaded on this trip I honestly rate them very high.
All my Liebherr 4x4's get ordered with the same suspension, and they run with 1 ton plus everyday.

Cost complete with both upper control arms being replaced is around R35k.

… if you decide to go Bilstein,
maybe try source from GoldWagon
as they were quite good price there
a month or so back .
( You have to know the right specs
front and rear.)

So Wessel, when you go back to Mikem and fit what you have already decided to fit, let us know how they are

I would go Bilstein fitted by Mikem & Mikem coils, with the rear being progressive.
Reason being:
You can talk to Darryl & Bilsteins are serviceable.

I would also look at Terrain Tamer as they sell different options depending on your lift & load.

If I went Iron Man I'd get progressive coils and the best shocks I could afford, they sell options, the most expensive of which are those foam cell jobbies.

I would not bother with OME, Monroe, Pedders or the rest.

Just my view.
