4500km goes like stink.

So because of that, I know exactly how much I spent on it.

Pierre is sorted Manny.
Don't you know with every second hand jeep you buy, you can choose between an extended warranty or a rebuild kit. Its in the fine print.

Oh, Yes. This...
My jeep is now sitting on just about 200000 km, around 70000 of that was with the rebuild motor.
Still going strong.

Just a bit of info: the Pentastar 3.6 V6 is based on the 3.0 V6 out of the Maserati Ghibli.
Stellantis also owns Maserati, and when Jeep was looking for a new V6 for the 2012-onward Jeep models, they found that this would be a great option.
All they did was expand the bore and stroke to 3.6L. Most of the ancillaries (timing cover, oil pump, etc) are transferrable. The crank, con-rods and pistons are not transferrable, and the cam is obviously set up for more torque.

By the way, our Pentastar was also rebuilt @ 310,000 kms, also due to a cooling system failure.
The only criticism I have of Jeep is the fact that the penny-pinchers at the company decided that using plastic in the high temp areas of the engine was a clever way to save costs...........let's just say that plastic can't last high heat forever.
When the engine was stripped down, the bores still showed honing marks, the crank, cam and bearings were all perfect, and all it needed was a set of pistons and rings. The rings had collapsed due to heat, and there was some blow-bye. Pistons were replaced as at 300k KMs, there was minor scuffing on the teflon coating on the skirt, so it was decided to rather replace.
Obviously then it got an all-aluminium radiator, and the oil cooler was replaced. The heads and the block were checked for warping.
And obviously it needed a full set of gaskets.
Total bill came to under R30k.
Most of the labour was getting oil out of water galleries and vice versa.
