OK manny, if you say so. Obviously a Toyota engine is better than a Maserati.

Correct, the V6 4.0 vvti Toyota motor is far superior.
Similar outputs, similar consumption but you NEVER hear of that V6 giving trouble.

I know 6 people with Pentastar motors, 3 have had to rebuild.

It's crap.

I really hoped that, for the JL they would have launched a new TurboPetrol of 2.8 or 3.0 litre capacity.

Toyota has a 2.4 Turbo Petrol with 272kW and 460Nm. Jeep should have also downsized and forced the induction...

Just a bit of info: the Pentastar 3.6 V6 is based on the 3.0 V6 out of the Maserati Ghibli.

Stellantis also owns Maserati, and when Jeep was looking for a new V6 for the 2012-onward Jeep models, they found that this would be a great option.
All they did was expand the bore and stroke to 3.6L. Most of the ancillaries (timing cover, oil pump, etc) are transferrable. The crank, con-rods and pistons are not transferrable, and the cam is obviously set up for more torque.
I think Ginger rebuilt his with Maserati bits.. goes unlike anything I’ve ever driven before.

Correct. I am running the Maserati 281905 crank with prodigy diamond pistons and conrods. :D

I still have all the old bits...

Is that beginning with an "M" or ending with an "s"?
