in theory mine is grounded to the chassis via the plate as its bolted to the chassis. but Im under correction.

also the instruction provided say nothing about a extra grounding

As I understand it this is not grounding as in an earth. The plate acts as a reflector and amplifies the signal. The bigger the plate the better the signal.
Apparently the best place to mount the aerial is in the middle of the roof but this is not practical usually

Drove past you on Terrace Road this morning. The Jimny looks good with those tyres. You just need a sticker on the back of it. I have a spare one that you can come collect from me.

So I had some custom bags made to go inside the car ,
one on the back door for light stuff and two inside screwed to the body on the internal body mounts
