"The relays can be manually switched to control lights water pump and other accessories.
Also remote controlled so you can switch stuff while lying in bed. Image"

Grips,

Still don't understand the reason for the relays?
Are you switching high current circuits with them?

I are a dumb mech eng!

Thanks
Henri the switches I used is Toyota switches rated at 3 Amps. The water pump draws 6 Amps that is above the rating of the switch. Plan is to fit area lights on the exterior of the canopy that will exceed the 3 Amp rating of the switch.
Also it is easier to do the remote switching via relays.

Maybe an overkill but I feel that it is a safe way of switching.

So Christo. You have had nice camp out in the rig. Did everything work out good or do you have some fine-tuning to do?

I am satisfied. 12v system with solar were great. Gas system and geyser kept Karin happy with hot showers and water on tap.

So yes I am satisfied thusfar. Still lots of stuff that needs to be done.

For an overlanding vehicle I need to fit a hard shell rooftop tent, awning and mount the foldout shower on the cabin roof rack.

Will make a video some time to show the layout and working.

Thanks Christo.
Makes absolute sense now.
Not seen much of this in camping set ups.
Dikker draad and grooter switches is the norm!

Did a trip yesterday following the Gamagara river and Kuruman river. Kuruman river running for the first time in many years.

Highly impressed with my solar charging system. Started both fridges from the solar system Saturday afternoon. Parked the Cruiser in the sun round 14:00. Yesterday morning the batteries were still fully charged. Noticed something which I did not know. The CTEK DS250 had the batteries at full charge while we had a quick braai. Notice that it switched over and charged the vehicle battery once the dual battery system were at full charge.
Read up on the specs of the DS250 and it is indeed one of its functions. First time I have noticed it.

Great when an install works well and you get bonuses too!

... nice layout Grips, though I might recommend using grommets
if it’s practical to retrofit them ... esp where there’s a few amps etc
‘Builders Express’ etc sell a selection of them at quite reasonable price.

Thanks at time of the built I could not find the correct size grommets in Kathu.
Have since got hold of a kit.

For precaution all those holes are chamfered. Chances are little that the high grade pvc insulation will shaft through.

If I have spare time I will fit the grommets for extra piece of mind
