Starting to take shape.

Wife says it looks like a rat rod.

Looking good! Love seeing people make things!

Another word of advice though - drop a couple of diagonals in there just in case it goes over!
Thanks Apoc.

Planning on fortifying it with further tubing - its still just the basic shape though. Once I have finished with the load bin, I will remove the skeleton to properly weld the seams and strengthen the whole frame.

Currently playing with the idea of lining the load bin with dark red meranti wood. Just for that added rustic feel. Think it will look good.

In honour of our national cricket team, I thought it best to name the buggy's carburetor: Protea

Got some heat resist paint for the exhaust and did a test patch. Looks good.

Also got the old fuel cap and line out and fitted it-needs some rust treatment - the tank as well.

Pic of the type of meranti I will be using to line the bin.

Got two of the three dials for the dash from midas. Still need a rev meter. Will use the old one.

For those who cannot visualise the final product, here is a detailed plan to scale. Its always easier when you have taken the time draw and plan ahead.

Did you use Solidworks or CATIA V5 for that excellent drawing?
